I've been contemplating the idea of Moomintroll being a girl (a young Moominmaiden, if you will) and how that
single gender swap would alter any character dynamics. I doubt the Snufmin dynamic would alter much, just that
underlying ♥♥♥♥ vibes are replaced by hetero vibes. Snorkmaiden was mainly interested in Moomintroll because he was her knight in shining armor, and though she can be a lesbian (often with Little My) this one change leaves her hard pressed for a young man for her to permanently be with... maybe Sniff? Ah, but he's so mundanely hetero he comes off as a bit ace. And Snork is still mostly ace, so it's not like he will be swooning
around Moominmaiden any time soon.
