It's a pity so many players have such a bad experience with Odyssey.
I don't know why, but I seem to be one of a happy few (?) who are enjoying the ♥♥♥♥ out of it.
Just being able to walk around in the stations was a much bigger improvement to the overall immersion than I anticipated. It's a huge wow feeling!
Exploring on foot and taking a beating in settlement shootouts also works fine and will keep me busy for quite a while. It runs with a decent enough framerate - haven't checked the numbers, but feels mostly buttery smooth. An exception is while driving around in the SRV in rocky areas, but haven't tried yet to tweak settings.

Biggest negative for me is the lack of 360 VR support. I really hope it will be implemented in the near future.
