Never played any Wasteland games or X-com games but this is a great one to jump in and try. Lots of missions so you have a good ability to choose your own path and lots of little side areas to explore with side content.

Since I've never played these type of games, this makes me think of Suikoden but tactics. You have tons of people to recruit. But you're also given a big list of recruits to start out with too. So you make up your party based on whatever you want.

Combat is fun. The game is a bit hard, playing on the lowest level for focus on story you still take a beating from enemies in combat. It's not like other "story" modes, so you still have to think about combat. But still fun to play.

I've played since the D1 days and since year 2 of Destiny 1 Bungie has made this game MUCH more solo friendly. If you're not up for teaming up with other people there is still a TON you can do solo. Take your time and play it casually.

Don't sleep on this game! There have been a ton of free updates since it launched. It's an amazing game to load up and just chill.

If you're looking for a challenge try normal or survival. But if you're just looking to explore the universe, play on CREATIVE. It's fantastic. I have 100+ hours on creative and it's a great experience with my kids just sitting back and searching for new planets, ships, and all of the weird things this game can create. All without the constant pressure of finding resources to fuel your journey.
