Early Access Review
Not much to the game yet besides eating, drinking and growing. Combat is a "thing" but needs more time to develop as it's "Early Access" - which it shouldn't be. It should just be a demo. That's all it really is since nothing in this game is actually theirs minus some sounds and loading screens, which is also licensed art and wasn't custom.

I backed $30 on Kickstarter and I have yet to see any worthwhile developments in this game for that $30. So far, it's been a waste and I wish I had waited. I so badly wanted this game to succeed, but truth be told I probably won't touch it for another year because it's boring, majority of the content isn't theirs, there has been blatant lies and some have gone as far as calling it "deceit". Unruly banning, censoring and whatnot.. you can find a LOT of videos on Day of Dragons on Youtube and whether or not they're true or "unrealistic lies by gremlins" I'll let you decide.

Enough bad publicity to keep me away for a year or more. I can't support a game that has such questionable things going on behind the scenes.

The lead dev has gone absolutely nuts and after a stream of questionable behaviors, left his own community with his staff to clean up while he develops the game, or so we're told.. Ouch.

In conclusion: Wait a year, or two. Watch Youtube videos of gameplay and look for improvement. I don't want people to waste their money thinking that they're getting what they paid for - you wont. Not at this time.

Good luck DoD. Keep developing.

Four years after my initial review was written and posted, and this is still very much true. The only addition I can really say is that breeding has been developed and added. Skin crafting / Breeding for crafted skins was introduced but removed in the latest 1.0 update.

The 1.0 update has a sorry fraction of what it promised. I genuinely wish I could write more but at this point I'm so tired of giving Day of Dragons my physical and mental energy.

The dev situation has not improved. The game has not improved. Features have been removed or stripped. Critique is met with superfans that seem to be a protected group of individuals, leaving the rest of us who want the game to be better to get swamped with hate, warnings or even be banned. It was crazy then, it's crazy now. I won't interact with the DoD community at all after this - which is NOT something the devs should be encouraging.. but truth be told, he'd rather never hear from people with actual critique and grievances again.

The last time I reviewed, they were using placeholder assets. At the very least, they now have their own custom dragon models in the game. Some animations are broken. For the incredible amount of bugs the game has, new players still find it hard to find an actual bug that they can eat to not starve.

I'm glad the game has its new models and started breeding functionality. That's honestly the only changes worth noting since I last played.

Honestly, I love PC:E. I never had the original Primal Carnage, but I do enjoy its little sequel. I got it last October in 2015, and have played it enough to want to recommend it to people. The community is alright, but it's not the absolute best. The Devs sometimes don't know what they're doing, I feel.. and often recorrect errors they make that upset the community. The game is updated regularly, which is cool. It brings in new features and skins, weapons and such.

8.5/10, Would recommend.
Please note I'm talking about the GAME, not the community. I've met some really nice people within the community.
