Disclaimer: I received a free beta copy of this game for PC, but have also paid out of pocket for a second copy.

Not your average beat 'em up side-scroller, Wulverblade blends a healthy variety of detailed history, exceptional artwork, and rewarding action. The waves of relentless enemies and unforgiving bosses gives the game a fun Dark Souls meets Castle Crashers vibe.

Seemingly simple at first, you'll quickly learn you need to adapt to stay alive. The game provides more combat options than blindly mashing buttons (and you'll need everything at your disposal to succeed). Utilize the environment to your advantage by beating enemies into the fire, use power weapon drops as often as possible, and launch dropped knives back at the enemy. Don't hesitate to trigger rage-mode or call for wolves to get out of those desperate, sometimes unavoidable, situations. Oh yeah, and you can use the limbs of your fallen enemies as projectiles.

Wulverblade isn't for the faint of heart. You will die a lot then die some more and it will start tearing you apart. But you know that gratifying feeling that ensues when finally perfecting the ideal technique/counter and land the fatal boss-killing blow? You get that a lot in this game; a true sense of pride and accomplishment.

At $15, this game is a steal. Think about it - would you rather have a burrito that'll last you 10 minutes or relish in hours of bloodshed and carnage while you take down the invading Roman Empire? I know my choice.
