Best game in years.
Honestly, just buy it, it's the best way I've spent my money in the last few years in terms of digital purchasing.

That moment when you're promised a truly amazing thing, but then get a reprtitive pile of garbage. Shame on you, Sean, shame on you for breaking my heart. If you want something truly great in terms of space sim, go play Elite: Dangerous or Rodina.

D4 was quite a surpsrising experience, simply because it just came out of a blue for me. Just like the Deadly Premonition, the game made by the same gus behind D4. I wasn't waiting for it, I didn't ask for it, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it was amazing!
So, the game tells a story of a out-of-work detective, whose wife was murdered. After quitting the police, he decided to lead his own investigation, looking for a mysterious 'D' his wife told him to look for before she died. Oh, and there is also a lot of time travelling, side cases, etc. story related stuff.
However, a very interesting setup, weird and memorable characters (even backgroudn ones) make this basic setup into something way more interesting. And even though the story is narrative and cannot be changed slightly (as it was in The Walking Dead, for example), the story is confusing, but interesting to follow.
The graphics of the game make it also look very AVAANT GAAARDE stylish, hraphic-novel-like, paying good attention to details (apart from clues. Most of them, at least). The soundtrack (oh, this soundtrack!) is making an atmosphere even better, and hell, the main theme! Jesus, the main theme could stand on it's own in some kind of a detective TV series! it's just unbelievably awesome!
Tho, with all being said, it's short. It took me 3.2 hours to finish episode one along with the introduction, finishing most of the side cases and simple messing around my surroundings.

Summing up, this is a weird a detective adventure, hilarious and with great characters and environment, soundtrack and style in general. It is indeed unique, hilarious and original. Looking forward towards new episodes.

9-9.5/10. Must have for all those interested in adventure games.

To be honest, I didn't expect this novel to be that good. I saw quirky drawings and as soon as I opened the game I heared kind of annoying soundtrack. And it could've been the end to my experience with it, but I gave it a shot anyway. And - ohboi! - I don't regret it.
The game follows a story of a shy and insecure guy Attchan who comes back to his homevillage to visit his grandparents for just three days. While there, the character decides to visit (or, as one of the option states, not to) his childhood friends: Amu and Noele. It sounds kinda basic, but if I go without any spoilers, I'd say that there is a very interesting kind of chracters hiding behind such a basic concept. Really, just read it for yourselfs, through all the filler episodes and a boring start. This novel has an advantage of being short, just about 3 and a half hours (if you read in carefully) to get one ending. There are not that many differences between endings concerning the actual story, just a few more scenes or episodes, but it is satisfying.
What really helps the game is it's soundtrack. It does sound cheap, but it fits perfectly with the spirit of the whole story, so that's why it works.
However, the main con of the game is it's sprites and drawings. When characters are descent (just slightly above average), the backgrounds are terrible and seem just like photos rendered with a filter. But, as bad as it may sound, it doesn't really matter, as that simply what it is: a background. It doesn't spoil the story, and that's what matters.

Overall, I'll admit that this is, by far, one of the best visual novels I've ever read, and I've read A LOT of them. This one's short, full of emotions, good memorable characters and atmospheric soundtrack. If only the drawings could've been better, we would've had ourselves a perfect visual novel of it's kind.
8.5-9/10

P.S. Noelle is the best, even with that little box cutter of hers and blood on her hands.

It's hard writing this review. Really, not going to lie. This visual novel is bad and good at the same time, but let me explain myself. (kind of TL; DR tho, so just skip to the last paragraph for conclusion, if you don't want to waste too much of your time) (please, do note, that this is the first experience and is written after only one hour of playing the game).

So, Gaokao.Love.100Days is a story of... you, being a senior student, preparing for the graduation test and getting a girlfriend at the same time.Sounds pretty basic, eh? Well, not really. Thing that got me saying "oh, come on!" was the fact that you are tied to the story too much. By that I mean that you can't really influence it in the beggining (even from the start you are told that you already have a girlfriend and you can't change). Maybe that's a personal thing, but in my humble opinion. it's needless and forcing a story to be told in a very narrow way, which is great for books and films, but not for video games (epecially for a vn). The choice (note: NOT including choice of "what to do" during weekends and night classes) is also quite rare in the first hour, and even when you get to it, it doesn't really change anything. It's just there to end the scene and that's it. Point here is, the story is narrow.

Moving on it's fair to admit that characters are descent, but dialogues (at lest most of them) are silly and pointless (e.g., first 30 minutes of the game, characters are trying to talk about cakes for almost 2 bloody minutes, and it's happening in the first 2 days, too). I can understan people may enjoy it, but come on - cakes? For two minutes? And digging deeper, trying to "explain" a character (but, as we all aware, that's not how it works). That's the second point: characters feel weak and kinda cliche (but still attractive as characters, at least some of them).
Also, do I really have to mention that your alter ego in the game doesn't have any character at all?

Thirdly, (this is rather personal) characters have voices (not all of them tho, only the key characters do). This is a common problem of vn on Steam. Voices spoil the mood, because it's not anime, it's, first of all, a novel, and novel is meant to be read. In this case, tho, I'd say that only Muxin's voice is annoying, The rest of the cast is descent, but they could've been way better without any talking at all.

Now, to points why I still recommend this game. The atmosphere of Spring and coming-up important exams is delivered well (in some cases even amazingly), the backgrounds are great and character's drawing is good (still better than Always Remember Me), the soundtrack is beautiful and pretty much makes half of the atmosphere. The story is silly, stupid sometimes, but rather descently written. At least it feels like I'm seeing people on the screen, not dolls (yes, Sakura series, I'm talking about you) and life simulation is descent (even though I can't help but rage why you have to pick JUST ONE option for the whole day, while in Always Remmeber Me, for example, it took some time to do that and it took some time to do this, not just IT TAKES A WHOLE DAY/NIGHT CLASS TO CALL MUXIN)

Okay. So, summing up.
Gaokao is certainly not the worst visual novel out there, and in the end of the day, I don't regret spending my money on it. However, it lacks what most visual novels have: an interesting setting of the story and actually interesting original characters (I have no idea how there are 50+ endings, really). Maybe I don't get it becaus I'm still yet to finish Senior year, or maybe I just don't want to replay similar-to-real situations. Dunno, but what I'm trying to say is that other novels try to put you in a different situation that you are higly unlikely to experience (such as school for disabled people in Katawa Shoujo, for that instance). Here, it's just life of a senior student. That's it (even though some endings, as I heard, are quite depressing and interesting, but I'm yet to discover that)
"But Hipsta", I can hear you saying, "You barely played 1 hour, that's not how it works". True that, but if I'm not interested in reading during the first hour, during my first impression, what's the point of moving on with it?
As a final score, I'll give it a 6-7-7.5/10. As to "why I should buy it?", I'd say buy it if you want to go through a light, easy-to-read novel telling a story of a simple guy with an ordinary life. For others, I'd say read If My Heart Had Wings or Fruit of Grisaia.

P.S. The opinion may change since it's the impression of just the very first hour of the game, so you might as well stay tuned.

Early Access Review
"Once more into the fray
Into the last good fight I'll ever know
Live and die on this day
Live and die on this day..." (c) - Ending monologue from 'The Grey'

Cold, brutal and lonely. These words descibe this game better than any others (at least now). And this is awesome.
'The Long Dark' is one of the very few really-really awesome kickstarter projects/Early Access Steam games that could've ever exist. It's atmospheric, it's hard and it's promising. To confirm my words, I'll just present one of the situations.

On the very first day of the survival, I made it to the dam. It looked creepy, but the storm was rising, so I just stepped in. I was terrified: I had no light sources, I was law on food and had nothing to protect myself with. And then the atmospheric part stepped in: every sound I made sounded like a gunshot in a closed room. I got that feeling of someone else watching me. I started looting around, went to the far dark room. Suddenly, I heard somthing else. I crawled down and realized that there is a wolf right next to me. There is just not enough words to describe how actually much I was scared, so I just rushed outside. It was a relief for me, I stopped for a second to catch my breath. And then I realized that there is a fog arond me and I hear someone else coming.

This is just one of the many. And you don't want to get hudrated, hungry or tired, because if you are in the middle of the cold wilderness, you are probably dead.

So, summing up:
+Awesome, fantastic atmosphere
+Great soundtrack
+A large world to explore
+ Non-scripted events
+Beautiful graphics
+Breathcatching wilderness
+The only game where you can be Liam Neeson from 'The Grey'

-It becomes kind of impossible to survive after the fifth day (approx.)
-Becomes a bit boring sometimes

As a result: one of the very few games that I'm excited for. Sandbox is already one of the best survivals ever, and I can't even imagine how actualy good the story is going to be. And you might say, that this is getting old and mainstream. Yes, it is. But you will remember my words after you hear that cry in the middle of the night.
Must have for fans of such games/settings.

8.5-9/10.
