It lacks unit variety and units for factions are similar, so it's boring. I also find it's a constant slog to manage income with food surplus, and also trying to keep up with the AI that can build big stacks quite quickly. It's just not fun, constant stress, and boring. Do not recommend, play another total war game.

The game is initially fun but then you'll find it's literally just a constant struggle of effort and stress. Literally no time to relax and enjoy what you've built. The AI will declare war and you'll have a mysterious -8k income for no reason that you can see based on production/consumption and energy use. Notifications don't even tell you why this happens. Not fun, game needs more clear instruction on what is going on. I have uninstalled the game 6 times in total because every time it's just irritating. Nothing is clear or straightforward in the game. I am not exaggerating. You will be working things out constantly while stuff is going bad for you. I have 9 hours in this game and do not enjoy it at all.

I played this game many years ago on the Xbox 360 platform and spent over 24 hours on it (I know this because I received the achievement for it), and I've also spent 4 hours on the Steam version.

It is exactly the same as the Xbox 360 version, except I've noticed two things that annoy me:

1) The AI is sometimes idiotic... for example, me and my allies were on the way to attack an enemy base and as we arrive my ally decides to turn on an energy wall that they control, preventing 80% of my attacking force getting through. They may have had good intentions to stop the enemies coming through, but in reality they messed my attack up and it cost a lot more to succeed.

2) After the above happened, for some reason my cursor was no longer visible and I closed the game for a while as a result.

Other than those two things, the game is fun but you do have a low population limit.

Insurgency is a tactical first person shooter that requires working as a team to complete objectives. You will die if you try to be a one-man-army.

You can play PVP or PVE and when you enter a game you choose your role, e.g. sniper, support, grenadier, rifleman, specialist, bomber, etc. You don't have to role play but I prefer to.

There are many game modes. One example is hunt where you and your team have to hunt down roughly 20 AI opponents and also destroy their weapon caches.

Another is checkpoint which involves storming enemy checkpoints, capturing and then defending from a counter-attack. Once this is over you move on to capture the next checkpoint or enemy weapon cache that you have to destroy. If you die you have to wait until the next objective is completed before respawning.

It is very fun and the community seems decent. Friendly fire is enabled so watch out! I have been killed a few times by my team mates by mistake.

I would highly recommend this game.

This game is definitely worth the 99p that you pay for it, unless you're like me and purchased it at 17p on sale. I will warn you however that the game can become very difficult and frustrating. The game is very good and it is well built.

This is a good strategy game, but for those of you who've not played any total war games previously, I recommend playing the game on easy mode. This is because there are a lot of faction who are able to gang up on you.

This game allows you to pick a faction and command their army. You can create a larger economy, and thus a bigger army to expand your operations.

You are able to partake in diplomatic relations to create trade deals and allies. Alternatively, you can use this feature to bribe your way out of 'sticky' situations, or you can even use it to declare war on another faction.

I would give this game a 7 and a half out of 10.

The above score would be higher if there were not a few flaws within this game, such as the unbalanced auto-resolve feature, and a few other things I can't be bothered to remember.
