That's fair, definitely doesn't hurt to try letting the support know. From what I've seen in those bot groups, it's possible that these accounts select certain things from multiple genuine accounts and then mash them up together. For instance, there are dozens of accounts going under the same name and keeping most of these copied aspects, but some of them have a different profile picture. Wishing you all the best, hopefully something can be done against it

Yeah no problem, German expat in Austria, but I somehow switch generally to English on the interwebs. Sadly LLMs have made it too easy to seem fluent in many languages these days, this has promoted scamming from a low skill to a no skill activity. Just throw ♥♥♥♥ at the wall until something sticks or someone is stupid enough to bite. At least they aren't doing drugs ...err... trying to influence some election somewhere. ;)

And good call on that report category. It's been a while since I actually needed to file one and that slipped my mind. Even if they are riding the line when it comes to impersonation (just the bio/links, not the whole profile including profile pic/name/whatever) it still can't hurt to let the Steam support have a look and maybe do something about it.

Yeah, it very much seems like a bot farm. When that account contacted me, it seemed convincing at first and their German was fluent as well (until they told me to click on the link, which I obviously didn't), so maybe they will listen if you contact them but it is very unlikely.

Under the reporting tab, there is the option: "Die Person ist an Diebstahl, Betrug oder anderen bösartigen Aktivitäten beteilight" -> "Die Person gibt sich als mich aus oder jemanden, den ich kenne". So it could certainly be something worth reporting or contacting Steam support about it and ask if they can do anything about it since there are dozens of accounts and this can easily be defamatory, considering that you have released workshop content for some games.

Thanks for the heads up. Guess there's not much I can because some dweeb copies my crappy bio/links, at least I believe that alone isn't a TOS violation. I could add them and ask to remove it but this smells like a bot operation (relatively new account with a couple of games, most of them F2P) and the RNG spat my ID out for something to copy, I don't think this would change anything. Sure, I'd prefer they'd use a lorem ipsum or something inane but as they say 'Das Leben ist kein Ponyhof' Hope your report will change something, you at least have a cause for one due to those phishing links.

Anyway, just checked my authorized devices and everything is in order... nothing but my own devices as it should be.

Daraufhin habe ich deinen Nutzernamen gegoogled um zu sehen, um man dir mitteilen kann, dass dein Account möglicherweise geklaut wurde. Sort answer: Sorry, but no or highly unlikely.

Long answer: I can't see a way for GWYF2 still supporting the Steam Workshop with it being multi platform and I won't pud dozens of hours into something I don't control in the end. Also considering how T17 handled the IP after taking over from BLI, their inattention, their inability to fix bugs they've introduced in a reasonable time (if ever) - specially in the editor, their lack of communication... if they weren't on my "do not buy" list before, they sure af are now. :)
