There is no one single definition of what a furry is. Even within the fandom, people can’t always agree on what makes a person a furry or not. Some would say that to be a furry, you must think and talk like one. Even if you go to cons, use a suit, draws, etc but don't talk using furry lingo, you're not one. Others would say that even liking anthro makes you one. You may have no idea the furry fandom exists, let alone any of the sites; simply liking 'anthro' makes you a furry.
The way I see it, if you are a furry is matter of opinion. Most are normal people. There is the small percent of megafans that have taken what for most is fun and ruined it. As is with so many things, few that take it too far tend to be the loudest. The silent majority are often forced into silence by the loud for fear that people will label them as being the as the minority that have perverted it. In conclusion, as with anything there are some that have taken it too far and perverted what for many is a hobby
