Volcanoids is one of those games that really seem like theres a lot going on. There's robots attacking you constantly (unless you're underground of course), you have to micromanage multiple sub-systems just to create the modules and upgrade you want, and don't forget that you have to manage the eruption timer as well. This game has many "Fronts" to a busy game, but if you get even slightly accustomed to the play style, it's child's play. I do get that this game is in the alpha, but with the gameplay it has going on now, it's very linear. You go to surface (or cave), you blow up whatever enemy required, you go back to the ship, and you upgrade your modules and parts with the gear they had.

This game also does benefit greatly with having even just 1 extra person. Being immersed in this game is pretty much all it has going for it in terms of repeatability. That one extra person can be your navigator, helping immensely with the piloting underground as the caves do become quite labyrinthine. That extra person can heal you while you're chucking a grenade behind a rock at the turret. That one extra person could even help scrap the materials you need just to help you create the one module you were looking for, saving possibly 5-10 minutes of just scouring around looking for materials. It's those little details that help a lot, so if you were to play this game, play it in a group, it's solo play is very weak.

Here are some suggestions I had:

- Make the robots more discernible from each other
The only difference you can tell between the robot types are color and weapon, when you're getting shot at it's hard to tell what type of COG you are facing. An easy fix to this is by making them different shaped. Theres miners, so you can make them shorter, stouter, and even more bulky to resemble that of a dwarf. Chemists, the scientists of the COGS, they can be more flamboyant and brightly colored to show that they truly are the experimenters. Then there's the builders, the bulk COG group that build most of the ships and turrets that everyone uses. Builders can be left alone in design, as i think the basic robot look they have is already very fitting for them.

- Add more unique weaponry.
Mods are currently doing wonders with this problem, adding pocket sized mortars or even an AK-47. While there is quite a plethora of weaponry in the base game already, some uniqueness would help so much. Maybe a flamethrower, a grenade launcher, or even a melee weapon with a shield.

- Make multiple factions
This is a bit of a crazy idea, but having just ONE extra team of enemies to fight would help SO much with this game. Maybe human survivors who have acclimated to the volcano eruption. Maybe dwarves who were always underground before the COGS arrived and just want to fight back. Or maybe even some supernatural faction, like the volcano it self. Just something that makes this game not just a team v team game.

- Make the quests more rewarding.
In the beginning, they were helpful, and even mid-late game you can catch me doing 1 or 2 quests because they have markers to what i need to do when i'm lost. But MAN are they so annoying. They clutter the screen, the phone ringing constantly doesn't help it's case, and at the end of it all? NO REWARDS. There's an achievement for beating this game without taking a single quest, and the more i play this game the more I realize how doable it is. Maybe give the player some resources, or some modules to lead them to the next quest. For example, if you have a quest that involves upgrading your Drill from level 1 to level 2, and the next quest after that is to level up your engine from level 1 to level 2, then give the player one material needed for the next quest. Therefore, it has a lot more momentum, and leads the player by not only guiding them, but by actively giving them their goal. PLUS it would make the achievement that much harder.

- Fix the guns, please
At first, I loved the guns and how they felt. I've always been a sucker for steampunk environments, so It always felt like a natural fit when I started. As the game progressed, that feeling kept slipping away. Not only is there random spread, bullet time and bullet drop, but the guns that aren't the shotgun are the weakest thing ever. Pistols take 1 maybe even 2 full clips to kill 1 robot. Snipers take 2-3 bodyshots to kill, and even worse, the grenades do even LESS damage than an upclose shotgun. How am I, the player, supposed to kill things when my only viable weapon is a gun that can only kill within 2 feet. I propose that you make it hitscan weapons (or at least double the bullet time), you tweak the guns to make them feel a bit more powerful in the early game, and also MAKE THE AMMO STACKING BETTER. I am so tired of holding 10 stacks of ammo because it only has 20 bullets per stack.

- Make the player able to make their own robots.
Pretty self explanatory. It doesn't have to be the exact same COGS that you are fighting. You can easily make a resprite of the character, but robotic, and have them be the allies. Robots can patrol the drill (and you can change this patrol with your watch), and when the eruption has 2 minutes left, they pack up their stuff and leave towards the drill. This is already such a fun idea because turrets are nice but they are boring at the end of the day. You just get better turret every time you upgrade, and they all look the same. Having some drones might even permit a playstyle of Volcanoids, where a player can do a drone only run, no turrets.

I gave a lot of critiques, so it sounds like this game is really bad, but these are very niche things that i targetted. In reality, I do love the game and I'm perfectly fine if even none of these changes are added.

Best of luck to you guys

I mean, It's Beat Saber. Everyone and their mother knows this game. It's THE VR game.

It's a great game, almost a must have for anyone with a Headset, but that doesn't mean it doesn't come with any flaws.

I think the worst part is the fact that you almost NEED mods to have this game be enjoyable. Without mods you can't have: Custom songs, Custom Sabers, Models for yourself, Twitch/Streaming Integration, Multiplayer that allow custom songs, and so much more. I feel as if this game would be PERFECT if all of these were base game. Which is funny considering that custom songs WERE base game, but then the creator of Beat Saber decided that it would be better if you had to pay for songs, such as Imagine Dragons, The Weeknd, and Billie Eilish. But as I have said, why would you bother paying for them if you could just get them as a custom song?

One other problem is really just a gripe I have, and is WAY less of a problem than the previous one, but it's that walls are just useless as an obstacle. What should be a way to let you move through a level without just standing still, causes certain songs (and custom ones) to be berated with so many that it's almost nauseating to move this much in VR. It's tiring to move your entire body to the ground, then to the left, then to right. Disabling it causes a lower score so it's almost forced to stay on. I just wish there was a better obstacle, but what can you do?

Man this game is hard. If Binding of Isaac taught me anything, it's that you will never succeed without a lot of luck, and even with that much luck, all it takes is 1 bad room to ruin the entire run.

This game is a rogue lite that requires you to be on your toes almost ALL the time. missing an enemy, or not spotting one behind you, or having a plant shoot a missile while you're not paying attention really hurts as the game doesn't give you much to work with. You have 3 hearts, each taking half a heart per hit (with exceptions, meaning every hit counts, especially with how expensive the stupid mad merchant is.

This game is tough, but I love it because of that.

Man do I love this game. It has such unique physics compared to other games that compare, such as Blade and Sorcery, Bonelab, and even pavlov. Wielding either gun or melee weapon feels satisfying, has weight, and feels powerful. Other games might struggle and make the weapon either too light or too heavy, but I feel as if Walking Dead got it just right.

The story is absolutely amazing. Having a guy communicate to you via radio, and doing all the missions, make the game so much more interesting. The game can bring you on edge by going to the school, or makes you feel badass while you wipe the floor with the enemy in their own hideout. Either way, the game is satisfying and is probably my favorite VR game.

I do feel as if the ending, at least the one with the axeman, is a little bit of a miss for me, as I was really hoping I could at least see what he looked like.

The choice between either saving casey or killing him for the loot is also a miss, as saving him just means that he leaves you behind to go venture out. While killing him means you get all the loot the reserve has to offer... at least as much as you're able to hold. Without mods, you're AT MOST able to hold 3 primary weapons (There's probably at least 8). Only able to store so much food supplies, you're forced to leave it all behind. By the point you reach with either killing or saving casey, you should already have everything in the game. A few more shotguns and rifles does almost nothing, and the supplies help, but it's nothing scavenging can't replace. Which is why saving casey SHOULD be the better option. But as I have said, he just leaves you to go on his own. It makes no sense why you're not rewarded more for either. Having a partner in this game follow you, even if he's just a glorified extra backpack, wouldve been the coolest addition to this game. Unfortunately, you can't have your cake and eat it too

TL;DR I love this game to bits and it has unmatched physics. The story is amazing, even if the ending misses a bit. Can't wait to 100% the next game <3

I'm about what I expect to be halfway through, maybe 33% of the way through. So far, it's a pretty good sequel.
I have been waiting for this game ever since they announced it. I loved the first game so much and 100%'d it. I even did several playthroughs doing different play styles, such as a "genocide" route where I would murder everyone on sight, without interacting most of the time. The first game was so good and is likely my favorite VR game.

This game, however, doesn't live up to the first game. This game still has a recommend from me because I love the physics and the style, but for anyone who is not as lenient as me, which is probably the general populus, you may not find this game as acceptable. For one, they kept pushing back the release date. First it was December, then February, then it released late March. With almost 4 months of waiting from the initial release, it had a lot of high hopes from me.

Some of the problems I had with this game is that it's so buggy. Now i have a 3070, with my Valve Index, and i ran many games just fine. Blade and Sorcery, Pavlov VR, Bonelab, Half Life Alyx, and even the first game of Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners with NO problem. But for some reason this game has horrid lag spikes.

Not only that but whenever i try to grab an item that's in front of me, such as the flashlight or the journal, it will auto grab my holstered weapons. It's very frustrating when I try to rush to grab my flashlight to see whats ahead of me down the stairs, yet it keeps grabbing the machete that's in my left holster, whether this is a bug or not, it's very annoying.

The NPCs that you can talk to in the game are very forgettable, and most of the time, are just fetch quests. Dialogue sounds all the same and none of the characters stand out. Something else that is also very annoying, is the fact that all of them, no matter who, talk at such shambling speeds. Half the time while interacting with these characters, I want to shoot them out of frustration, but have to hold back since I want to 100% this game

With so many negatives, It might seem dissuading to buy this game, which is why i should mention some of the positives. Now with these positives i'm going to list, they're good, but they don't outweigh the negatives.

Night time travel. YES finally. This was one of the things that I wanted in the first game, and even had a mod to allow that. It has more dangers such as traveling elite reclaimed/tower members that will shoot on sight, and WAY more walkers, but pays off by having almost twice as much loot that are very useful for crafting, new trading posts that I will talk about, and also infinite stay time. Meaning you never have to leave because of the bells.

As I have mentioned, there are now exile trading posts. These posts are scattered across each map (except for a select special few) and have their own dedicated journal spot. They give you loot by giving them certain requested items. Sometimes the loot can be mediocre, like a few flares, while other times its a lot of ammo, weapons, and even bombs. Yes these trading posts are a fun new mechanic in the game and allow you to have something on the side of the game.

You are able to import the save file from the first game, to the new game. Thank GOD you can do this as several hours, if not tens of hours can be saved by being able to port your completed save. They added new crafting recipes, items, and ingredients to the game, so having to collect over twice as many ingredients from scratch is a little daunting, and Isn't my style of gameplay.

The 2 new crafting tables allow more armor upgrades such as stamina for sprinting, kevlar armor, and heavy armor. But more than that, they have brought in 2 new types of guns to the game, SMG's and Sawed off shotguns. No not the double barrel shotgun that is from the first game. A pocket version of the weapon is available for a cheap price. These 2 new weapons are such a blessing for the game because pistols jam way too often, and melee weapons require you to get close to the enemy. They also added a laser sight, brass knuckles-esque gloves, and a chainsaw. While notable, aren't as cool as the new guns added. The laser sight does conveniently solve a lot of my previous issues with aiming, but doesn't let you put it on any gun, instead it only allows it on the 9mm pistol. Which makes sense, but I was really hoping for some variety.

if you have also bought the payback DLC for an extra 10 dollars, you will also be given "The Blessing", "Fat Tuesday", Demon Storage Shelf, and collectable post cards. "The Blessing" is just a reskinned 9mm pistol, making it gold instead of the muddy silver color. Although cool looking, adds nothing to the game. "Fat Tuesday" is a reskin of the sawed off shotgun. Again, adds nothing, and doesn't even look too good. The Demon Storage Shelf is... alright? I mean it adds a cool shelf for your angel and demon statues that are collectables, but... there are so many shelves to choose from that you really do not need this shelf. The post cards are cool, but thinking about how little the DLC added; reskins, another shelf, and collectables? For 10 dollars? Not quite worth it.

TL;DR this game is a good sequel, but not a good game. It has the same physics type gameplay from the previous game that is pretty much carrying all the flaws in it. This game did JUST come out so I'm sure the bugs are sure to be changed and fixed (hopefully).

Want to obliterate 20 stick figures?

How about inject one person with the equivalent of 20 gallons of oil. And no, not the kind that floats.

What if you wanted to test the penetration power of all guns?

Too violent? How about you wire a heart monitor on over 10 people and make a mini hospital.

Need I say more?

Bloons but with actual strategy
Starcraft with a PvE more than PvP (although the option is still there)
Factorio with a better multiplayer

Get this, it's literally 6 dollars.

This game seemed like a good game. It had cool gimmicks, weapons were easy to handle. There was just 1 singular problem, formatting. I can't change half the settings, such as changing "Toggle to Aim". Whenever I try to make it fullscreen, it goes to the wrong monitor no matter what, so I'm forced to play windowed on my right, (I did try making my right monitor the main monitor, I even unplugged my left one to make my right one the only one. But still, it just went black and i couldn't tab in to the game). I also had issues with the graphics, since the game wouldn't even let me change anything, I was forced to use really bad graphics in windowed mode, which you can imagine wasn't a pretty thing to look at. Fun game if it actually worked on my computer.
