Visually stunning but the world still doesn't feel alive, hoping that changes in time.

So much fun, but so much rage.

Decent & fun BR game with quite a twist on the genre with different modes of transport to pick from, devs seem to be constantly updating the game too which is nice.

What can I say, this game is amazing, I don’t normally write many reviews but feel the need to pay it back to the devs and write a bit of a wall of text about the game I’ve sunk so many hours into, so here goes:

In the massive increase in Battle Royal games and Open World PVP games this really stands out from the rest, though on a much smaller scale player wise it works so well.
Placed in a decently sized map with 10 people (including you) the aim is to find the clues and kill the bosses and extract, all while trying to kill or avoid other players doing the same. You can choose to be stealthy or go in loud, whichever you chose but being loud will alert players to your location in the form of NPCs placed around the map, crows, half dead horses, dogs, and of course the sound of your gun going off, unless silenced.

The game is really atmospheric and haunting at times, set in a dull and bleak Louisiana Bayou look alike world with (at the moment) 3 types of weather; golden hour that creates amazing light shafts shining through the trees, night time that just makes it down right creepy and scary running into some mobs you didn’t see and the recently added fog that is probably the best fog I’ve seen in a game, ever. Each type of weather can change how you play the game, all while looking stunningly beautiful, they have knocked it out of the park in terms of graphics and atmosphere.

Gameplay is so satisfying and the gunplay is brilliant, you'll feel incredibly good when you manage to headshot another hunter from afar or take down one rushing you. With a vast range of weapons to choose from and constant additions to your arsenal via updates, as I said earlier there is an option for all types of gameplay, whichever you feel like playing at the time.

Performance for me, was a bit rough at the start, but that’s why the game is in early access, a few patches later and its fine for me and has only been getting better, able to maintain a solid 60+ fps so the game feels smooth.

Even though the game itself is in early access there is so much promise, Crytek are insanely active on their Discord, Twitter & Subreddit listening to community ideas and suggestions to make the game better. Check out their roadmap on the Hunt website and it only makes me look forward to the future of this game as every content patch that’s released is just as good if not better than the last.

That’s about all I can think of saying at the moment, this game really is worth picking up and playing with friends for a unique experience that I’ve not had before while playing an online shooter.

2020 Update:
All of the above still holds true, game is still getting updates and is in a great place. Crytek are doing wonders with Hunt.

Probably one of the most messed up games i've played, and absolutely loved it. Definitely worth a play if you're a fan of horror games that aren't just jump scares.

11/10, will not sleep well tonight.

Brilliant game and well worth a play through for anyone whos a fan of horror games, it starts off quite tame, but by god by the end there is some messed up ♥♥♥♥. Even just being deep in the ocean by yourself is downright creepy, it really is atmospheric and immersive. Accompanied by a great story and soundtrack, this is a great game. highly recommend it.

You're better off finding your old PS1 and playing the original then playing this.

Visually one of the best looking games of 2014 in my opinion, i was constantly stopping and taking screenshots and being in awe at the beautiful scenery. A short but great story that makes you explore and have to think, with controls that arent clunky either. Accompanied by an amazing soundtrack this game is great for the price, worth picking up and getting stuck into.

Dont judge the game on the first hour of gameplay, really picks up after that. Brilliant game, highly recommended.
