This is my all time favourite game, sure it's dated in both graphics and gameplay, but the atmosphere and charm of this game makes it timeless in my opinion. The story is inspired by noir detective cinema and John Woo films, with a good sense of humour and wit. James McCaffrey's voice acting really sells Max as a character, as does the game's writer Sam Lake (before he went woke) playing Max in the graphic novel style cutscenes. The game comes across as low budget and simple, but the passion the devs had for this game really shows, they just don't make games like this anymore with the same passion and love for the art form.

I would highly recommend looking into mods for this game before buying, as some fixes are needed for it to run properly, but trust me when I say it is well worth your time. This is a game I come back to often, the story and characters are just so memorable and I can quote many lines from this game.
