game has very very finnicy phsycs, badly implemented yarn systems that are supposed to be the core of gameplay and a pathetic excuse for a cute story, of which I've seen better executed in 2 minute sob story commercials. Repetitive puzzles that are either a mind-numbing self excitatory repetition or a luck based gamble with stubborn controls and obscure yarn rules.

Please don't fall for the whole "emotional touching game" thing. This is ridiculously cliched and unbearable in every aspect. The soundtrack is absolutely bland and at times so inappropriate it's funny. The character design is horrendous; they all loke like those stock images of generic "stick figures" people use in PowerPoint presentations.

The "voice acting" is completely detrimental to the whole experience: they talk like Sims (from The Sims), except in a game that wants to be serious and tell a good story - and not some parody. There are numerous times when you're watching cutscenes and interactions with absolutely no subtitle, no dialogue box and characters just talking gibberish and making exaggerated and pathetic gestures.

You spent the whole game watching the sames cutscenes over and over again, walking around the same spots indefinetely and not being able to skip anything.

The game crashes a pretty frequently for a 2 to 3 hours experience, and checkpoints are absurdly scarce. Also, there are a lot points of no return that make you unable to experience optional scenes, collect extras and earn achievements; add to that the abscence of a chapter select system.

Finally, thee story makes it pretty clear that the dev team is likely a bunch of (male) programmers thinking that hiring a writer or storyboarder is absolutely not necessary. It's predictable in every single aspect, like something you would think of in the shower.

Cheesy narration is extremely annoying and offputting. The writing is tacky enough, but the narrator's generic action-movie-trailer voice may be worse still.

Graphics are plain ugly. If anyone can find it pretty, it's probably because people have been somewhat obsessed with "hand-drawn" graphics and will therefore mindlessly praise anything not-in-3D. I love well-made hand-drawn graphics, but they could've gotten better stuff with the first tumblr artist they came across. Also, the music reminds me of when I was first learning piano scales and the teacher told me to try to improvise something. It's like they weren't even trying.

As other people have said already, the normal/first game mode is stupidly easy, and the second aritificially hard. Puzzles that include concepts never introduced in the main game are thrown at you with absolutely no foundation that allows you to solve it with good critical thinking. I'm not saying it's impossible, but countless tough-as-nails games are being made and praised nowadays - if Nihilumbra had offered a hard but soundly designed game it would surely have gained the notoriety of gems like Dark Souls, Shovel Night, vvvvvv, etcetera.

The game is supposedly worth it for it's story, but it's very clear how the developers try to get away with an extremly simple and eventless plot, in which practically nothing happens at all, and is only partially gullible due to it's heavily dramatic scenes - which doesn't make those less cliché; we've seen it all before. Considering this oversimplistic story, the game is overall boring, due to extremly easy and unchallenging puzzles. The gameplay time is barelly 5 hours long, but at least for me, that was mostly due to a very glitchy scenario and overall irresponse controls. I wouldn't say it's horrible, but that's only because of its lovely art direction and sublime soundtrack.
