The game looks amazing and feels good but something is off that just does not click with me. Maybe it's the 200 gigabyte storage requirement which is a really big issue when I'm only looking to enjoy the campaign. The campaign itself has some really interesting and thought provoking moments, but to download 200 gigabytes of .. something .. just to replay the few hours it takes to complete the story - not worth it.

I had Factorio ignored on Steam close to 7 years. Then I accidentally saw a video about it on YouTube.

I've heard over the years that it's the inspiration to Satisfactory, another game which I really like, but I that's about where the similarities end. Factorio's top down pixel-ish look combined with its seemingly (and sometimes actually) complicated solutions were the factors that killed my interest all those years ago, yet somehow those are also the reasons why I'm starting to develop a little addiction.

I am nowhere near far enough to review the game deeply. After 60 hours I am still figuring out the basics which I've somehow missed by finding a completely different solution to my problems.

In the beginning any new machines had me scared straight. Trying to figure out how to take down each one took a bit of time. The story itself is relatively simple yet I really liked how, unlike in my previous experiences, the world didn't keep the majority of technology that they had before *insert plot motive*.

On the other hand what I dislike about this game is this weird HDR/brightness balancing effect. During night time in certain scenarios looking at the ground brightens it up while lowering anything in the background. It makes it really hard in many cases to see what I'm aiming at. I did also notice a weird mouse smoothing effect which cannot be turned off however adjusting to it was pretty painless.

Overall I think it's a solid game and definitely a great introduction for players new to this genre.

Riddle me this - Haven Island and New York, destinations that are completely playable through Freelancer mode, yet are not available to play as a regular mission? I literally have the content downloaded, never mind having paid for them already in the last installment, and I cannot access it? I strongly suggest against purchasing the game. This is an unacceptable.

Before I found out:

While the game in it of itself is great, keeping to the tradition of bringing you all over the world and giving you a general and maybe a somewhat stereotypical vibe of the destinations, I do not condone and agree with the practices of DLC in this game. It is unacceptable to ask customers to pay again for content that they already own from previous games. Unfortunately behind this illogical and scummy decision lies in my honest opinion a great game from a series which I have enjoyed for years.

I recommend for the first playthrough without a webcam to stay true to your blinking and not cheat yourself.

A nice and simple puzzle game with a dash of horror mixed in.

The game has received a few patches and fixes to aid with the rocky launch of the game. While it is missing a few key features which you would expect from a AAA title, it is nonetheless very fun and playable. If you are a fan of Cities Skylines, you most likely have already bought the game. If you are not then I would still hold off for a few months to see how much is added and fixed. With all this being said, I would recommend buying it as it is a genuinely good time sinker and a whole lot of fun.

Also fair warning that once your city reaches higher populations then your processor might bottleneck the game. I can confirm a Ryzen 5 5600X at 108k population at 3x game speed with performance preference on simulation will not run in real time. This is somewhat due to every single NPC being rendered down to their teeth(???) so I would expect this to get fixed. I have only once tried to zoom this far and don't see myself doing it enough for the game to have a need to render EVERYTHING.

F1 game series has had a nice linear downhill trend with game being broken and filled with bugs. This was the pinnacle.

With the addition of new tracks it is a great game to pick up if you're an F1 fan. If you already own F1 2020 I would suggest waiting for a sale as the gameplay is rather the same.

It is a perfect gateway for new fans of F1 to come and play the Formula game series.
