1: Devs suck at making their game.

Instead of fixing their game breaking and annoying bugs they just add useless ♥♥♥♥ like bunker cats and add more dlcs to milk the game. for like 5 wipes there was this glitch where every 5-20 seconds your character would just randomly shift/move forward, which would glitch you into stuff like lockers or move you out of cover to get shot and killed or throw you off of a roof and kill you. and it took only FIVE WIPES to fix a bug encountered within 1 minute of gameplay by literally everyone no matter what. and theres still dumbass glitches like your backpack spinning around and flying away, which has been around since the games release and they still havent managed to fix it along with the countless amount of progress erasing bugs, BUT they have managed to add dumbass "UWU" dlcs to the game and more useless cosmetic ♥♥♥♥ that no one has asked for.


2: Maps are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Pretty much all the maps besides one arent even worth playing. Matka miest, Matka underground, and missile silo are so insanely lazily put together it amazes me that it took them so long to come out with these maps. Matka miest is supposed to be an urban map, in some big european city similar to streets of tarkov, but none of the buildings are enterable besides the museum. so 90% of the map is just stretches of road with walls around them making the combat completely strategy-less and boring. Matka underground and missile silo are the same deal too, just very tight corridors where all you do is turn a corner and whoever shoots first wins. The only map that is actually worth playing is island of tabor, which is a forest island map like shoreline on tarkov, where fighting other players is fun and not 1 dimensional since you actually have to use your brain to fight people. Switch between the maps and you'll see what I mean.


3: Armor piercing rounds are overpowered

Spend tens of hours building up a kit with the best armor in the game only to get 2-3 tapped by someone with pistol caliber ap, which is found in nearly every ammo box. if youre going to make AP so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ powerful at least make it somewhat hard to get. so if youre playing late wipe you might aswell not bother bringing any armor in the game because it will barely make a difference. I found 4 boxes worth of 7.62x51 AP in a handfull of raids. that is ammo for the M1A sass which is arguably the best gun in the game. IN JUST FOUR RAIDS you are already halfway there to 1 tapping people in the torso with the best armor in the game.


4: leveling up is retarded

get this game if you have no life, because if you want to level up and actually buy something besides an smg with no iron sights and a chestrig that doesnt stop bullets, youre going to have to spend countless hours grinding to even unlock basic weapons and armor. to put this into perspective if youre at level 2, you have 25,000 XP and you need to get to 75,000 xp to level up your trader. To gain xp you need to complete tasks. The task that gives the most xp (5000 Xp) requires you to kill 10 players in 3 raids. IN MY ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY HOURS OF PLAYING I HAVE NOT EVEN ENCOUNTERED 10 PLAYERS IN 3 RAIDS. if you somehow in hell encounter that many people in 3 raids, and SOMEHOW KILL ALL OF THEM, that is genuinely insane. and if somehow all the stars align and you pull this off, you only got to do it TEN MORE TIMES to reach level three. and once you finally reach level 3 after an eternity, dont even think about getting to level 4 because now you need 150,000 xp which is like double the amount of xp you needed for level 3. oh and theres also like 5 other traders with essential items that are equally as tedious to level up. and any other task that is anywhere near the realm of reasonable gives you barely any xp like 500-1000. I cant stress how annoying it is especially when at level 1 and 2 your gear and weapons that are available to you are aboslutely dog crap and youre better off just going into a raid and getting them off a scav for free. this is the main reason why this game is so horrible too, maybe i'd put up with the other crap like the devs not fixing bugs or lazy map design if most of my gameplay wasnt spent miserably grinding to unlock stuff i should've had at level 1. so unless you have no life and can spend all day everyday grinding for levels in this game have fun being stuck with complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gear.

Most of the good stuff you've heard from this game probably came from people playing the older version, which was an actual milsim game, unlike what it is now. In the older version there was maps that included mountain to mountain combat, long range woodland combat, and good cqb. What also really made the game so much better than what it is now was the AI. The ai was so amazing. They would actually flank you, change positions for a better shot and move back when suppressed. What came to ruin all of this was the 1.8 update which added Oculus support and crossplay. they stated that it would originally be only graphical changes and other optimizations, but it turned out they removed a bunch of important maps, gear, equipment, core features, etc. But worst of all was the AI, they removed a tonn of behaviors from the ai, now they would just instantly rush to your position in a straight line like a zombie, completely ignoring getting shot at or literally anything else. They don't take cover, they wouldnt drop magazines for you to take once you killed them, they would just run to you. And it was for nothing either, the oculus playerbase just ruined the game. A bunch of squeakers and little kids bought the game and just make every match unplayable with the constant whining and arguing over virtually nothing. This is nothing close to a milsim at this point. Just get contractors or pavlov for basically the same experience but actually good.

best vr basketball game, the only one i've played with good mechanics. its also free too.

This really introduces a lot of people like me who probably wouldn't be interested in the half life series if it wasn't remastered and brought back up to date. Not only does this add so many other aspects to the game that are exclusive and brand new in black mesa, but it really just brings the game to life. The better engine and more opportunity allowed the game to be depicted like it was supposed to. Props to the guys at Crowbar Collective for doing an actual remaster and not just updating graphics but actually changing game-play. Black mesa is pretty much a must play if you have steam, 10/10.
