After a rough release it's somewhat alright now because of the daily gacha income. Though it's still comparatively barren of welcoming events for a gacha release. Kinda obvious it's their first gacha game, though if they're copying today's CN gacha rate then they shouldn't look at the archaic whale dependent JP gacha approach.

Now cutting the gacha talk, the game itself is decent.
It's a party based action rpg but with Akatsuki games (or Danganronpa folks) flavor. Very story heavy including the famous end of chapter gimmick. The mob combat is thankfully fast compared to both beta, but the bosses can still quickly kill players if they're not ready. Having an ever present party members is surely one of this game biggest draw.

The UI is clean and refreshingly unique especially in gacha space today where everything tries to copy genshin down to its UI. The UX leaves a lot of desired however. It's hard to navigate while using gamepad compared to MKB.

Visual is absolutely beautiful as you can see from the screenshots. Low res pixelized character on detailed 3D world is an interesting and rare approach. The artstyle and expression are communicated nicely in their 3D version too.

All in all, I wish this game was not a gacha but a normal premium title but they had a plan for this game and hopefully we'll see.

Post Sept 17th update game is fun again. We actually get to play with the whole arsenal instead of the select usable few.

Now if the psn affected countries can play again, that would be perfect.

Early Access Review
By putting faces and fluff texts to its characters, Chrono Ark set itself apart from most deckbuilder games.
Sure the gameplay is fairly solid itself, but the story will pull the players in.

From helping to establish Christianity to cause a deadly massacre because my Sir Brante is lacking a single point in Eloquence.

After a decade waiting, the franchise that was the poster boy of action mecha games is finally back and more approachable than ever.

From the get go you'll be introduced to your main interaction tool, your Armored Core (AC). It's a familiar face. Weapons on both arms and your shoulders, HUD that's trying to emulate a cockpit of some machinery, but then there's something new.
You hit some enemies and the game introduced you to stagger system, it's undoubtedly taken from their soulsborne franchise. The tutorial boss is teaching you this system is essential. Not only that, turning speed is gone, camera speed is no longer tied to the capability of the AC but as fast as the controller/mouse allows.

For better or worse the introduction of these 2 things simply tell this entry will be different.

You are playing as 621, a faceless mercenary employed under similarly faceless operator, Walter. In fact all of the characters in the game don't have a model or even a portrait to glance what kind of people they are, as in tradition. You'll be amazed how much story can be told from callsigns and emblems alone. Once you reach the endings Which also highlights the core gameplay of this title, customization.

From emblem to your how your AC feels everything is customizable. You can unleash your inner Picasso on the emblems right after the tutorial stage. As for your AC, well you need to progress more first.

Maybe on the chapter 1 boss or after it you'll feel the need to tweak around your machine. Following the tutorials you see how different the legs are. Maybe you like another weapons you just unlock and on the store. You look at your AC, brown and grey could be not your thing, how about red? Maybe your AC could fly 3 times faster? You keep progressing through the chapters and repeatedly asking whether your AC can be better or cooler.

Congratulation, you enjoyed the gameplay loop. Enter a mission, bulldoze everything bulldoze-able, go back to the garage richer, tinker your AC more, then go back into the missions again. It's simple and proven. It is what Armored Core is.

Do you believe a port so ♥♥♥♥ it took down the entire pc well this one is it. It's p2p in 2024 and still run worse than the ps4/ps5 ver. Only playable because it's not like there's any alternative for a game like this so enjoy it while you still can. Just chalk it up to another bamco incompetence, they can't keep any online game service properly alive.

GBO2 just like its predecessor GBO is a pvp focuced multiplayer gundam themed game that's quite elusive because of its exclusivity in playstation consoles. Now, after a various teasing network tests the title finally see its release on pc.

The game itself while really archaic in design offers something that no other gundam games have. In here we have a massive playable Universal Century units ranging from the grandpa Gundam itself to reality defying Phenex. The grunts and numerous niche units from MSVs take a never before seen spotlight here
because playing as gundams only is boring from their unlikely appearances in other gundam media.

The gameplay cycle is quite basic. We usually have a 5v5 or 6v6 team deathmatch composed of units the players owned and tuned up before. On the battlefield, the units move quite deliberately befitting of their size. I don't know a good enough comparison, but basically the machines aren't moving like in hero shooters.
Win the match, go back to back base, check the selection of the units to purchase, and back into the match. It's a simple life.

There is ground and space maps but sometimes the units aren't airtight enough to fly in zero-g, so be sure to have a good variety of units.

Now the fun part, obtaining the units. The two ways of getting them are by gacha and purchasing via in-game currency. The gacha currency can be obtained by clearing daily tasks or buying with real money while in-game currency can only be obtained from the game itself.
The even more fun part of this because this game is dated as hell and suffering galapagos syndrome, you won't see the usual battle pass or insane grinding seen in the popular multiplayer military vehicles sims.

Basically obtaining and tuning the units are simple af. Just play the game and be patient. If you want to gacha, feel free knowing once you have the unit you want it's immediately ready to roll.

Finally, the source of negative reviews. Matchmaking and connection related issues. Tbh, I intended to put up this review as not recommended if the launch date issues still persists. It's working now. matchmaking are fast and we see noticeable improvement day after day.

Though, there's one more thorn in this section. The disconnect penalty is huge. While personally I haven't suffer the penalty (yet?) I've seen the penalty in the network test, it can range from days to weeks to months. Even if say you house suddenly got struck by a lightning and you lose a connection, the game can't see that and penalize you the same as ragequitters. The community solution to this is touch grass, but it kinda scary to put your money in a game that has a cruel system like this.

All in all, it's a good and simple game. Play if you want to ride a Ball and get one-shotted by mega beam rifle.

Project Wingman is without a doubt the best indie attempt into arcade combat flight sim genre.

It took heavy inspiration from the well known Ace Combat series. From the campy ace pilots drama, orchestra bgm, strange superweapon based politics, to sci-fi planes you can fight and pilot. Though there are two things I find Project Wingman does better than its inspiration; how it handles difficulty and postgame.

Once upon a time, there's a singular dlc in Ace Combat series that changes enemy composition for some missions instead of making everything bullet sponges. If you're familiar with this, yes it's the Ace of Aces dlc from Ace Combat 6. In Project Wingman, they apply this mode to the whole campaign. Do try mercenary once you're done with the entry difficulties.

What if you want to start a squadron from scratch and conquering the entire continent then do try the postgame Conquest mode.

Oh this game is also moddable. So if you want something more like post stall maneuver without ditching flares you can mod it in it too.

Highly Recommended to install "All Planes Are Two-Seaters" mod for a permanent copilot that would cry in horror from all the stupid maneuvers and warnings you pull.

Small sized mechs?
Rock-paper-scissors damage types?
Fighting giant machines that can level environment?

By all means Daemon x Machina is basically a spiritual successor of Armored Core V/VD but far more digestible.

In our present where this kind of 3d mecha action becoming a rarity because a certain company busy with their other franchise, Marvelous First Studio came to the rescue with a quality product.

Like shown in the cover players can build and fight in their own mecha. Not only that, players can exchange their own humanity for more legally obtainable enhancements. All of that while thrown into fully voiced intrigues from competing factions. The story itself is simply servicable and the characters can be pretty comical however having said characters so expressive combined with the colorful palette made the world more welcoming.

The mech we build have the standard arms on both weapons plus shoulder weapons and an auxiliary. If you were in this rodeo before all of this will be familiar. The unique stuffs are Femto stances which can give you short term tactical options (don't sleep on this) and Outer Body combat or simply on-field pilot combat. Yes you can get out of mech anytime and despite a more niche option you can continue your combat that way.

Oh, parts also drops from enemies which is neat.

Once you're done with the story and side mission there's one more challenge, the co-op missions. The multiplayer is pretty much dead so you can ignore pvp. Exploration is pretty much for farming and can be done solo. Co-op mission mode however is another beast, it's a monster hunter mode. You can challenge monstrous creatures, well most of them are already went past mere machines, either solo or with other players/AI and experience over the top combat like in the final mission many more times.
