Early Access Review
Nuclear Option is one of a kind. It blends several well-established concepts from the game industry in a way that feels fresh and original. Few Early Access titles are as polished as Nuclear Option. This game is easily worth more than €17—developers are constantly adding new features, aircraft, weapons, and maps, demonstrating their hard work and passion for the project.

It’s a "SimCade" (easy to learn, hard to master). You can jump straight into flying without grappling with complex mechanics, but combat rewards pilots who understand their aircraft’s systems and the weaponry available on the battlefield. A controller is recommended (I started with a Steam Controller before transitioning to a joystick+HOTAS setup), though keyboard + mouse works too. Every aircraft has a unique role and remains viable in its own way. I’ve logged 52 hours of gameplay, yet it feels like just 5—time flies when you’re having fun (pun intended).

Cons? It’s Early Access, so some issues are expected (though not all are the devs’ fault). For example: Performance can dip in multiplayer sessions if the host spawns hundreds of NPCs/AI simultaneously—on my NVIDIA 3070 laptop, frames dropped to 20 FPS in extreme cases. However, with optimized mission triggers and scripts, performance soars to 100+ FPS.

Despite this, the game absolutely deserves its "Overwhelmingly Positive" review score. A must-buy.

*Potential Spoliers(?)
One truly wishes to witness the last moments of this life surrounded by their loved ones, unfortunately, it's not always possible. I hope that we'll cross paths again in some way, if not… well, it was a good ride.

I can't recommend this game to anyone at this time, for me it feels like a mistake buying it.

The development has been and is too erratic to be able to continue trusting VOID Interactive. I hope I'm wrong but I have a feeling that it's going to be one of the worst disappointments in recent years and all due to negligence on the part of the development team.

Theoretically 1.0 will be released later this year, if you want you can wait.

UPDATE: 18th December 2023

The SWAT AI has been improved, it doesn't mean it's flawless but the improvement is noticeable. Why still the bad review then?

SUSPECT AI is all over the place. They have pixel accuracy, they can detect you through walls and will charge your position 9 out of 10 times. There are no different behaviours between a methhead and a trained terrorist. They can shoot through smoke/walls/blinds/hard to see windows and in a stunned state. Flashbangs don't always work.

It is really a shame because the game overall is quite polished right now, but the enemy AI makes it unplayable. I hope they fix it sooner this time. The 1 year update doesn't feel as complete as was promised.

The game itself has amazing visuals and sound effects. The ships behave differently and are relatively interesting in design though they aren't that different from the cockpit.

What kills this game for me (and I've played 100h so I gave it several opportunities) is it's extremely dull and grindy gameplay loop. I've taken so much time because I wanted to grind a bit to buy a decent ship to begin adventuring across the galaxy, only to find out that every star system is the same, each space station has the same missions and quests, you will end up doing 2 or 3 kinds of missions because they are less time consuming and more credit efficient, so there goes 90% of your time (the other time is consumed sailing the stars).

You will feel like a paraplegic glued to a chair of a ship that is stuck in an almost infinite galaxy filled with nothingness, pretty nightmarish. So yeah, shame on the mechanics and dullness of the galaxy, otherwise it would have been a good game.

As a Factorio enjoyer and having tried other factory games that were good but not good enough as Factorio I am surprised to see that this game stands on the same level, if not superior, as Factorio.

The progress isn't tedious and daunting if you are a seasoned factory planner and I could imagine if you are new into this type of games it will be an amazing discovery for you, in fact it's quite achievable, you still have to pour your hours and brains in to make a good and efficient factory but it doesn't feel like a task nor something reserved for the very best logisticians.

The part that DSP made me fall in love with it are the orbits and the planetary systems, it's innovative and refreshing. You must do interplanetary/interstellar logistics to attain certain assets, you may place some infrastructures in strategic places on the planet: solar panels at the poles to recieve a smaller but constant flow of energy or put them around the equator, put the dyson rail guns on the bright side of a rotational locked planet to constantly build the Dyson Swarm, etc. These are just a few examples of what this game has to offer.

Where I have to disagree with other reviewers is that this game doesn't have a Game Over/You are Dead mechanic. It does in a way that is, to me at least, way scarier. You can run out of resources if you are a careless spender and don't plan ahead, for example: you can run out of resources if you start the Dyson Swarm too early (Solar Sails have an expiration time unless you pour them into a Dyson Sphere). What I mean is that it is very possible to get planetary locked if you don't rush certain techs and prepare to achieve a planetary/interstellar logistics chain to support your main factory planet.

I still have to build my first Dyson Sphere and I can't wait to do it but I have to be very careful not to forget about my real life responsabilites. It's scary to see how the time goes by in a single game session and you don't even notice.

So Dyson Sphere Program is a "YES, you should buy it".

- Story written by a 12 year old.
- Sniper game with missions that force you to go CQC (???)
- Bugs every now and then
- Stupid AI
- Unrealistic snipers with unrealistic damage. (7.62 does more damage than .308 or even .50 cal)
- Insane loading times even on an SDD
- Game was designed for consoles, enemies despawn passed 300m
- Costs 4 € but it's still a waste of time

AVOID

It's the best Crafting Open World Survival Game ever and the best indie game of 2020.

Once you get the mechanics you'll get hooked by the simplicity and at the same time complex systems to develop your base.

You will thrill to see how your crude conveyors, inserters and factories end up being an authentic industrial juggernaut shredding all sentient life in its way.

Start your industrial empire today!

You will often find yourself walking/running through empty hallways without enemies or extras and then dying to some ranged mofo, just to find yourself respawning at the beggining of the empty hallway...

On the other side it's just enjoyable for the time it offers that's around 10 hours or so. Online is dead btw.

I only recommend it if you are a big fan of WH40k.

It feels like the original developers at Blizzard made a Diablo 3, but instead they split up and made it under a new name. Oh wait...

BTW this game is amazing and probably the currently best ARPG. Just completed the campaign and there's still few challenging things to do like the skeletal dungeons or to kill a God, and that's without the DLCs! It's only 25 €, what are you waiting for?
