The new owners of this title/game are genuinely evil. What originally was a weapon system that rewarded grinding and effort has been completely removed. You can NO LONGER craft weapons, you have to BUY them with premium currency. Do NOT waste your time with this game, the original glory is gone.

This was once a game I loved. I wasn't too bothered by the possibility of having to start grinding again, but the fact that they've taken everything from what once made this game great as a last ditch effort to milk money out of it is absolutely abhorrent.

Farewell, Dauntless.

Early Access Review
Game play
Rating - Good
New to top down arena games but gave it an install after my mates begged me to try it out and I was quickly surprised to find myself really getting into it. It plays a lot like Overwatch 2 (in a good way) when it comes to team composition, and it's pretty easy to quickly pick up. For me I'm very into the movement tech which with a lot of characters it's great. Artstyle and general appearance of the game is nice, characters are well designed and I'd assume more are coming out in the future. Definitely going to see a few nerfs go out soon though however.

Initial on-boarding
Rating - Decent
Tutorial was decent and covered most of the game play. After playing a match or two, the system of levelling up your gear + items was quick to understand. Shop is really the only thing that isn't covered well. So far I've gathered it's just an easy way to get a blue shield, or level up gear through duplicates. I've found that once you play through a few games, especially with friends you can very quickly understand the basic mechanics. Practice mode is also a great way to test out and try the playable characters.

Issues
Rating - Minimal
My only complaints are that there's a battle pass that may not be permanent and that most of the emotes are cringy, but I haven't encountered any bugs or issues outside of the odd crash or two. Battlepass is pretty quick to level through when compared to other games which thankfully means the developers might not try and push FOMO. Battlepass takes a a long time to level after you've made some progress - hopefully this is better balanced in the future as the current XP requirement is a little too high. The cosmetics and store items are incredibly price-heavy, with a "Luxe" skin costing around $72 AUD total as you will have to purchase every single variant of the skin + finishers before being able to purchase it. Cosmetics are purely optional however, so this is fine.
> EDIT: Updated as of mid-December.

Accessibility
Rating - Great
It's easy to modify controls, unfortunately (as of posting) muting music doesn't really stop it from playing when you're loading into a game. Otherwise, the ability to tweak dead-zones and modify the HUD for visibility is a really great feature, the customization can be a little limited, however the current options are really nice. Learn tab in the main menu also explains all the items and how they work which is nice.

Overall
Rating - Solid choice
Game is free and there isn't really any push for paying for anything outside of cosmetics. I'd say it's worth a try. Compared to games like LOL and DOTA, this game surprisingly does not really have any sense of toxicity from my experience so far, and the community is great. As the game continues to be worked on and receives updates, I will update my review.

Abandonware - Community servers are the only way to play.

Update: 16/07/2024 - Community servers are ping spoofed meaning you join a 0-20 ping server and are met with 200+ ping servers if you're joining from Australia. As for non-community, valve-owned TF2 servers, queuing in OCE takes 10+ minutes before you are then booted out of queuing, even with good internet.

TF2's recent update has somehow made Tf2 even worse. As a game I grew up playing first in 2010, it is a shame to see the current state it is in. Thankfully it is free, meaning you won't waste your money, but the experience is lackluster regardless compared to the glory it once held.

Not even a year into this game, they're abandoning development and now selling "MWIII" as the progression to this game. Gameplay at a base value is decent, but it feels like the entire release of the game has basically been a beta release and the entire notion of it being a "2 year cycle of support" was a complete lie as now the second year to this cycle costs over $100 as a separate game.

After the failure of Coldwar, the failure of Vanguard, Activision tried to chase the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare | 2019 (MW19) hype with MW2(22) or "Call of Duty" (as it has been relisted as, as of this review). The introduction of DMZ was probably the best, and only major introduction to the game as it tried to emulate Escape from Tarkov as a Lite version, outside of the base multiplayer this is the best addition to the COD franchise. However, when it comes to every other 'upgrade' from MW19, Warzone II turned a fun chaotic gamemode into a luck-based, poor rendition of what was ever-evolving map and gamemode that would constantly come with new features, time-limited events, into a selection of four, lackluster maps with no major secrets, and no interesting features outside of location base voice communication which comes with DMZ and Warzone.

While I was a pretty regular COD player, 2019 was something unique and interesting and I was in love with the game, and while MW2(22) has attempted to emulate the success of the game, currently, it is an absolute joke and an epitome of the disastrous failure of most AAA releases. Activision/Blizzard got too money hungry and wanted to capitalise off prior success, and ended up failing on every factor. Even with a $4500 gaming rig, the game crashes on a constant basis, the aimbot/wallhack cheating epidemic is just as bad if not worse than previous releases, and there seems to have been more focus on pumping out content packs via the store than an actual focus on the game itself.

Do not waste your money on this game, and do not waste your money on the new "MWIII", it will be the same disaster as it is currently.

Even if you can get a 99% off deal on this game, don't waste your money.

Got hit with a "Steam needs to be running to play this game" After multiple attempts of fixing:
- Restarting
- Reinstalling
- Renaming ClientRegistry.blob
- Running as Admin
- Verifying files

If you have to go through such a silly process to try and even launch a game, it's definitely not worth it. Googling this issue has results that age back to 2013, it's been 8 years, there's no good excuse.

Got gifted this game by my mates recently and I'm having an enormous amount of fun with Sea of Thieves. I find that I'll have spent hours playing the game without realising how long I've been playing for. I would definitely recommend the game if you have a squad you can play with but otherwise it's still a great solo game, just difficult. With good team coordination and sticking on track you can achieve a lot in a small amount of time. Another thing I love is that while there is purchasable content, it doesn't really give you any advantage, the game is entirely skill based.

Controls are an absolute mess, waste of your money if you're expecting a normal combat FPS game

Having one of my favorite games moved over to steam was really amazing news for me, I would 100% recommend playing Destiny to anyone thinking about it. The graphics and even just the background environment is absolutely beautiful, I sometimes find myself just pausing for a minute while playing just to take it in. The game also has an extensive and enormous amount of lore which must really excite some people but regardless of what you're into, this game probably has it.

There are some downsides, the issues I've faced are extensive crashing and server disconnections but this is only the first couple of days the game has been on steam so it's easily excusable. The other issue is that you can be fairly restricted if you don't have the latest DLCs, especially Iron Banner which is a seasonable PVP event. Some players who have a higher Light level will absolutely demolish you easily and you won't be able to do much against that. Regardless of these minor issues, the game is just one of those iconic gems that you can put thousands of hours into.

Overall, should you play the game?
- Yes

Should you buy the DLCs?
- The Shadowkeep DLC has been really fun so far, I'm enjoying the high power level and having the Moon as a location you can explore brings back old memories of Destiny 1. I would personally recommend it if you're an experienced player.
- Shadowkeep Digital Deluxe isn't worth it in my opinion.
- The Forsaken DLC is something I didn't play much of, I've only recently purchased it since I couldn't afford it when it first came out. The DLC has a lot of new items and things to do but I couldn't give a full opinion on it.

Is the season pass worth it?
- That really depends on what you want from the game, I've purchased it but I really don't think it was ultimately worth it in my opinion, it's just an easier way to get a bunch of gear that you'd earn over time. It just comes down to what and how you want to play the game.

For new players, Destiny is honestly really big. When I first started playing I got really lost with what to do. The best advise I can recommend is doing as many patrols, bounties and so on to boost your light level. There are a lot of guides online that will have an easier way to do something and I can recommend keeping up to date with the game using the Destiny companion app and also following the Reddit communities: (r/DestinyTheGame & r/Destiny2).

I originally had Mini Ninjas on the Xbox 360 many years ago. It's a game I remember playing when I was younger quite fondly.
Finding Mini Ninjas on Steam has left me very happy now that I've been able to play the very game I loved so long ago.
