I played this on the Samsung Odyssey+ headset flawlessly.

Half-Life: Alyx is said to be Valve's return to the Half-Life series. To me and many other players, it it much more than that. Valve is back.

This game has everything anyone could have ever wanted. All aspects from the music, to characters, and interactivity, this game is going to change the way that first person shooters are made. The series as a whole has always had this lasting impact. Before Half-Life, shooters were created like Doom, where you clear out a maze of levels blindly killing things, which is fun, but lacks depth and story. Nowadays, some games follow Half-Life's approach of story telling through interactivity and good pacing, but there are many that I feel still fall short in reaching the standards set by Half-Life 2. In some ways I feel playing these games all the time from such a young age has spoiled me from other games. After playing through Half-Life: Alyx though, it is clear that Valve is spoiling us.

As a newcomer to VR, I was really excited to experience more Half-Life after waiting since 2007. It is good to see how innovative Valve was with finding resin for upgrades, and makes the three guns that are obtained much more fun. I really enjoyed having to plan how I would spend my resin. A special part of the game that I will not spoil contains perhaps the most innovative game play mechanic however, and whoever came up with this is a genius. Picking up objects with our gravity gloves is what you do constantly when playing, and is made so easy and fun. Turning this into a game mechanic in one of the most stressful gaming moments ever shows that Valve still has the magic to do great things.I hope Valve realizes that as long as what they release is good, that they will continue making games. This game is going to do to VR what Half-Life did to shooters, and changes how we will experience games forever.

My hope for this series is that we get to experience another story told as Barney Calhoun, as a spin off not unlike how Gearbox created the expansion Blue Shift. This is a perfect time to release new games like these because with the amount of VR headsets that sold due to this one game, people could get unhappy if this is the only thing that released in the next year or two. Every fan of this game is in for a real treat, because the future for Valve looks bright.

Thank you for reading my review.

I got into Day of Defeat later compared to other big multiplayer valve games than I did with Team Fortress 2, Counter Strike: Source, and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch. I loved playing those games and still do, but playing this game makes me wish I had found it sooner. Like the listed games above, Day of Defeat has a small community but the few servers that still thrive today are a nice hang out for friends who enjoy meeting up to play their favorite game every night. It truly reminds me what I had loved about Counter Strike, the small communities make games great.

You should Play Half-Life 2: Deathmatch for co-op servers. These are always so much fun to play with friends.

This is my favorite game series in the entire world, everyone should play it! If you have not played this game yet then start with Half Life 1, then Opposing force, then Blue shift, then this and so on.
