Early Access Review
Fantastic game that I would recommend to anyone who gets that gets the "I want to make a painting and a map together and then populate it" itch. The amount of love that has gone into this game with it design editors, societies, races, community support, and the particular fun quirks that bring it all together make it worth it alone. I've spent probably close to 40% of my time in-game just making cool looking maps, but for those who don't care about making maps, you can download them from a dedicated community of map-makers. There is also a surprising amount of depth in the game, never knowing where the story-line of your world will go. Having a vast empire control an entire continent only for their great king to die and the empire to dissolve into 6 different broken factions.

Wishlist for the future of the game. There is no such thing as a perfect game and I'll outline some flaws and/or personal wishlist future additions here.
1) I'd like the different factions to be able to form alliances and for neighbors to get along a bit better. It's kind of weird to have neighboring nations, who could be trading and improving each other, be so eager to go to war at the drop of a hat.
2) I'd like traits to be passed down from generations. I think it's a cool idea to make a civilization of fire-dwarves who live in an inferno biome next to a volcano, but having to mass trait-spread Fire Immunity, Fire Blood, and Burn Scars every new generation is kind of tedious.
3) Once a civilization maxes out it's culture, you have kind of seen it all at that point and might as well apocalypse and make a new map. I'd like more unique culture traits like the watchtower or temple ones that give a culture a unique feel to them. I'd also like more race specific ones that separate elf culture from orc culture.
4) Armies need better AI. They shouldn't be able to cross vast swathes of land of other empires without positive relations with them, you shouldn't have 90% of the entire military go across the map to attack one village, leaving their home territory virtually undefended, and some military units should be willing to convert back to villagers if the population is low/non-existent so they don't just sit there and starve when all their villagers have been killed.
5) Give me a way to completely kill off virus/plagues. It's aggravating to have one society in the mushroom biome infected with MUSH for flavor, they eventually die off, and then 500 years down the line, still have to deal with random MUSH infections all over your world.
6) "Would be cool to have" list: Warships, guns/cannons, castles, walls, fortresses, seasons, the "undo" button, dwarves who can make buildings in mountains/hills, ruins to increase culture, culture splits, ranches (capturing livestock), dormant volcanos, ice volcanos, rainclouds without lightning, horses/mounts, megastructures (think Pyramids/Taj Mahal), etc.

tl;dr- 9/10 great game for "creatives" types, might be fun for 500hrs or only 5hrs depending on the person.

Fantastic game and experience. While the visual style is well done and looks great, my favorite part of the game is the sound design. Everything sounds so satisfying, including the outside of combat noises. All the little clicks and buzzes immerses you into the cockpit. If you like ship fleet simulators combined with FTL all set in Dune, then maybe grab your vodka and jump in.

Played this game for a couple weeks now without stopping. Very fun for basically being a courier/trader with combat thrown in occasionally.

The best thing about the game is that it feels like everything goes on within the Universe with or without you, with you having an impact on the direction the galactic community takes. Always little stories that randomly pop up that really pique your interest, sometimes at the same time and you will need to choose between the two. There are a lot of different ways to play and specialize but if you can very easily be good at pretty much everything within one play through with the right crew eventually.

Be warned though, the game does have a pretty sharp difficulty/power curve that you need to stay ahead of, especially when you reach different Eras in the game (Jyeeta Brood had more than a few crew deaths before the end), which makes you keep on your toes.

Overall, fun game that might need a slight change to the power scaling to avoid serious frustration. Would recommend a play through.
