Other than that, it's a pretty good shmup. Visibility is poor at times, which has been a problem in all of ZUN's recent games. It doesn't make the game totally unplayable, though. The ability cards are an interesting gimmick that better incentivises replayability compared to the other games. And the music is still really good.
Also, you can play as Sanae.

While this game was quite fun and I recommend it, it's far from being a good Touhou spinoff game.
It has the same two issues that a few of the recent entries have: bullet visibility issues and a gimmick that doesn't really make danmaku more interesting. The magic circle can be satisfying but in the end it's just "run into trouble and then run away". The RNG in bullet pattern combinations can make the game a bit of a headache sometimes, and it also makes many sections lack the beauty and care you usually expect from ZUN's bullet patterns.
Overall, it's still a fun STG with a pick up and play style, but if you want a perfect Touhou spinoff shmup, take a look at Double Spoiler.

great twist on typical bullet hell shenanigans, give it a try if you don't mind ripping some hair out!

Having 1cc'd the Normal mode and experienced some of the Extra mode, I can easily recommend this game to all Touhou fans and to those looking for a good Touhou fangame or just a great bullet hell in general.
The art style and use of 2d pixellated sprites is a rather unique take that I don't see often in Touhou fangames. It works really well here, especially given Oligarchomp's track record as an incredible artist.
In terms of gameplay, there are some things that need adjustments. The Point of Collection is simply too high, and the game never gives the player a chance to reach it after huge point drops anyway. I think making the line lower and giving some more pauses in stages will make the game more approachable and feel less like it's fighting itself. There was also some slowdown during Stage 5 and 6, but it might have been intentional, I don't know. The ability to map a controller button to restart would also be helpful, as pausing and hitting Retry becomes tedious when practicing.
All in all, I'm glad to have supported this game since its demo's launch, and I'm proud of you, Oligar!

GREAT FOR PARSEC! it got boring after about 9 levels though, so it's worth a couple hours of fun for sure

UFO is a good shmup, releasing around the time when Touhou was peaking in popularity. The UFO gimmick can be difficult to get used to, and focusing on it too much will kill you often. However, a good understanding of how the system works will make you feel like a god bending the game to your will with whatever resources you want. This game also has some of the best vibes in the whole series, from its sprawling backgrounds and varied music. I recommend buying this if you have played at least one other Touhou game, because this one's hard as hell.

This game is, without a doubt, the worst game in the Touhou Project in terms of gameplay. If you enjoy praying that your invincibility frames will work as you charge into madness over and over, with little-to-no instructions on how to properly play and avoid attacks, then I guess this game could be enjoyable. It's such a pain that this game's music, art, and story are so incredible, and yet there is basically nothing "Touhou" about the gameplay. Do not be mistaken, this is not a bullet hell. This is a half-baked mess.
