Early Access Review
Game was fine when I first bought it, but trying to play it now & it just crashes on start up. No fixes, no solution in forums, & people having the same issues who contacted devs say they were ignored.

I got the game just to play on the Arelith custom server, but the main campaign is really good, too. 9/10

I was playin' Splatoon 2 & everyone's lobby art was about this game so I bought it.

No regrets.

I would like to recommend this game but it just has too many flaws & issues. Biggest issue is lag. Servers suck, even with good ping. Second, inputs aren't read sometimes. I'll be pressing attack or parry & my guy with just stand there not doing anything. Third, it's too chaotic for a game that emphasizes dueling mechanics like it does. It's probably more chaotic than Chivalry, but with more complex mechanics that just make the game a chore to play & learn because you can't really learn since you die every 2 seconds. Make no mistake, this is a game where you're gonna have to spend dozens if not hundreds of hours just to learn how to play it. At that point, it's not really a game. It's homework. Studying, learning, memorizing, etc.

There is fun to be had, though. I've had fun, I've also been frustrated. BUT, when every game is pretty much the same scenario of either you or the enemy going 2v1, 3v1, 4v1, 5v1, etc. Most of the time you'll either be picking off people or getting picked off yourself. That isn't to say I haven't also had good games where I have a decent score, but those games are so few in number I can count them on one hand. There's really no point in playing this game in the long run, unless you just like goofing off mid battle a ton, or unless you just wanna play Horde mode or find Dueling servers, but then you'd only be playing a quarter of the game you bought.

In the end, it's up to you whether or not you think it's worth it. I'll probably keep playing it for what it is, but I can't really recommend it for what it is either.

Game is good, I just have a few complaints.

PROS
-Long & compelling story with well written characters
-Fun but old school JRPG style combat mechanics
-Very good art style, game is gorgeous
-In game casinos have no right to be this much fun

CONS
-Crafting system isn't enjoyable, feels tedious
-Side Quests are poorly implemented, no tracking, vague clues (e.g. Go find someone in this town. That's literally all you get.)

OVERALL

Overall, I enjoy the game very much. Story is good, characters are likable, voice acting is great, music is okay I guess but could be better. I really do like the story & sub plots within it.
There've been a few moments where I actually teared up a little bit. There are some moments that are cheesy & lame, tho. Other times it's funny.

Only real complaints I have are the side quests, which just suck. Half the quests are so vague you might as well just skip them. I've talked to every person in the towns they tell me they're in & I still can't find these people they want me to talk to. You basically need a guide if you are gonna complete this game 100% because these side quests suck.

Also, crafting in the game is pretty lame. You get 'pearls' for upgrading gear, but there's no point in upgrading anything except accessories since you'll be holding onto those the longest. That or the unique armor sets. Everything else is replaced so fast there's no point in upgrading them.

There's also this moment in the game where you have to earn 10,000 Casino tokens which I thought was gonna suck but the Casino mini games are actually a lot of fun so I didn't mind it as much as I thought I would.

Overall, great game with some flaws. Worth it if you like old school style JRPG's with a bit of a modernized feel.

If you like Batman comics, stories & characters you will probably very much enjoy this game. If not, you may still enjoy the adult story telling & darker themes. I would NOT recommend this game for kids.

PROS
-Save Transfer from the first game to continue your story
-Multiple outcomes to various events
-Good story, characters & Voice Acting
-Chapters have 2 completely different outcomes, should play twice & experience both.

CONS
-Some Choices are illusions, same outcome.
-Some scenes can glitch, need to reboot game/steam to fix
-More of an interactive movie than a game

OVERALL
Normally I'd explain the story but doing so would spoil since the entire game is based around it's story. As a game itself, it's not really a game. You are watching cut scenes & interacting with them. As an interactive movie I absolutely enjoyed my experience. It's a chillax game, just sit down, enjoy the show & press QTE buttons every now and then. In short, if you are a fan of Batman you will probably love this game. If not & if you have no idea about any of the characters from Batman then I dunno if I can recommend it. You may still enjoy it if you are a fan of comics in general and who knows, it might get you into the Batman universes. Check it out.

If you are a fan of Batman, just know that this game does it's own Batman. All characters are newly represented to tell a different story from other versions of Batman. You may or may not like how some characters are represented. Personally, I enjoyed 90% of everything in the game. I especially enjoyed the 'Joker' ending. It was dark, twisted & overall some of the best story elements happen in that ending. I highly recommend playing the game at least twice to experience everything the game has to offer, you may need more than two play through's to see every little thing but I'd suggest at least 2 times.

The game is good, but certain things leave much to be desired.

PROS
-Large Roster of Characters (all need unlocking)
-Good customization
-Fun fast paced combat
-Online Co-Op with friends
-Good for fans of Dragonball

CONS
-Almost Everything needs unlocking across ALL your characters.
-Very Grindy
-Becomes a chore late game
-Best Skills/Abilities are behind DLC
-DLC difficulty is insane
-Light Camera issues
-Team AI is bad
-Online is dead

OVERALL

The combat is fun but it has some flaws, like how combos can be near infinite, Stamina is an essential stat that drains quickly & recharges slowly. If you are stamina broken you are basically stuck getting pummeled while it recharges, yet AI opponents recharge twice as fast. You can negate it partially with buffs but it still takes time. The game is designed around 1v1 combat but constantly puts you up against several foes & there are severe balance issues, Certain moves like Dragon Fist are broken & just don't work or feel weak, others are OP & work too well, lots of trash content to go through to get to the good content near end game & you have to level every character on it's own & unlock almost everything separately. That means going through every part of the story just to unlock missions & online modes for each character. The game crashes during long play sessions as well, & lots of the best skills are locked away in DLC packs which is sleazy...

The game also gets really grindy to the point where you wish it would just give you the stupid item you want to drop. It can take several tries or only one because it's complete RNG based & while the RNG is better than the first game it still is annoying. At least this time Trainers aren't RNG spawned. You just unlock & talk to them. Missions can take anywhere between 2-15 minutes, or longer depending on the mission & your level. When you spend that amount of time doing the same mission over & over & not getting what you want it just makes you want to turn the game off & not turn it back on ever again.

The plus side is the fun factor will keep you playing for a long time, until the 'fun' wears off & you get into tedious grind territory which usually starts after level 80. 80+ is literally just grinding. Grinding money, grinding TP tokens, grinding missions, grinding craftables, grind dragon balls, grind raid crystals, experience and whatever else you can think of & yes it does get old fast, especially now that the game is pretty much dead when it comes to online. No one is doing PQ's or Raids & if they are they probably aren't doing it in pugs.

This makes the game especially less enjoyable since your team AI is awful compared to the AI you're fighting in end game missions. Your AI mates will stand there getting pummeled while you frantically try to take out at least one opponent before they die. It's made even worse when they are smacking your target away from you every 5 seconds so you can't even hit them. It also makes the end game DLC impossible to complete without online players. This is a deliberate tactic to sell more copies of the game. Make bad AI, force people to play with friends if they actually want to beat missions means you sell more copies. It's downright the worse way you can make a game but they made it that way anyways.

Sometimes the camera will also jank around if you are too close to a wall or a building. It can't go through walls so it will get pushed around & sometimes go up your behind. It can be especially annoying when this happens in critical moments.

VERDICT

I would only recommend getting it on decent sale. And I would seriously NOT recommend getting any of the DLC unless you have people to play with because otherwise you'll be stuck doing all the extra hard content with AI team mates & the AI is horrendous when fighting on your side. All the DLC content difficulty is pretty much maxed out too, so yea... Don't bother getting it if you plan on solo playing this game. You'd just be wasting money.

Just another terrible PC port from Bandai-Namco.
Game is locked at 1080p 30fps, and as far as I know there are no mods to fix this...
And I'm being serious when I say that there isn't any resolutions higher than 1080p in the in-game settings.
I'm at a loss for words since I've never seen a game that is locked both in resolution AND fps.
I would probably have given this game a thumbs up otherwise.

This game had a rocky start when it first launched. Bugs & glitches, slowdown, stuttering, HDR was removed, people were losing their saves, etc. Thankfully, QLOC is a dedicated group of developers & it shows with the current build of the game. It runs buttery smooth with little slowdown on my midrange PC. HDR has been fixed & looks fantastic, no more slowdown or stuttering in cutscenes & menus. The game is a great representation of both fighting game fans & DC fans alike. In short, if you like fighting games or DC games get this title. You probably won't be disappointed.

My only complaint is the Microtransactions that the game has, but thankfully everything is pretty much optional. No pay to win elements here, just cosmetics. They added a $10 DLC that makes gear transformations infinite, which basically means they aren't making money from them so instead of getting rid of it you have to pay extra to get rid of it yourself. Hopefully, Microtransactions like these will be removed from the gaming industry altogether but I'm not holding my breath.
