edit: alright, in all seriousness.. (spoilers ahead.)

in my opinion, omori is a mediocre rpg that rushes its climax and struggles to develop a reason for me to care about "sunny" 's guilt over the unintentional murder of his sister. now, just because i didn't enjoy it all that much doesn't mean that i don't think that there's an audience for it, the gameplay itself is your standard affair (aside from the full party attack thing, which was a nice little bonus.) and doesn't do much to set itself apart from other similar games in the genre.

i don't really understand the praise for the artstyle, but that's entirely a me thing, because i do agree that it's visually appealing, i don't see the grab of the hand-drawn aesthetic. also the music, while a bit ear-grating at times, is mostly fine, but to me, it's just that. fine.

the game doesn't do a very good job in controlling the balance and contrast between the "happy" aesthetic and the dark undertones that build up as time progresses. it feels a bit jarring as it initially presents itself as creepy, which i don't believe was the best way to begin with, as it tips the player off to the darker undertone before even introducing a contrast, (outside of mewo the cat, the best character.)

this game does have a decently entertaining sense of humor, which can be both a positive and a negative, as it seems to draw away from the more serious aspects of this game, especially considering how most of the comedy comes from the "dreams", it seems to contrast with the supposed current threats, but that's common place in many rpgs, including earthbound (which is my favourite game, by the way.)

i don't know, much like undertale (another game i've grown to dislike, mostly due in part to the community surrounding it.) i find myself unable to enjoy this game despite liking many aspects about it. i honestly wish i could leave a neutral review, because i don't recommend against it necessarily, despite my distaste for it, because there's people that i know that will, and do enjoy this game; however, i am not one of them.

my recommendation, if you're interested in this, wait for a sale and buy it there.

(oh, and i bought this game because it was recommended to me, and i finished it because i wanted to give the game a chance, and initially, i liked it, but that feeling grew to a distaste for it.)
