Used crude oil to increase my carbon footprint and set hundreds of bugs on fire... and maybe a forest.

Early Access Review
I'm writing this during early access -- and have two basic things to say about Valheim:
1) This game has great potential. I hope the developers make the effort to support the workshop to allow for the customization of the experience that I think a lot of people in the community crave. That is not to say the vanilla experience is not good or even great. It's just early yet to make the final call.
2) This game has a solid user experience even without being completely polished. The mechanics are quirky and different from other survival games that I have played. Dying sets you back and your rewards are earned.

Banished is SimCity (before EA trashed it) meets Don't Starve. To be successful in Banished requires you to take your sparse starting supplies and make something out of essentially nothing. Depending on the difficulty that you choose, you take on managing the lives and livelyhoods of 4 -6 families that have been thrown out into the wilds. Surviving will require careful planning, gathering, and use of resources as well as micromanagement of a very small populous and growing them into an entire settlement.

This game favors careful planning and use of resources which will quickly become harder and harder to obtain. Every decision you from building a new home or cutting down a stand of trees will have some effect on your community. Disasters while infrequent are devestating and feel challenging and rewarding to overcome (and can be disabled if you're not as adventerous or don't enjoy your carefully laid plans put to ruins in a blink by a blight on your most productive field, a earlier than expected freeze destroying your crops and causing a shortage of fuel for fires, or perhaps a disease breaking loose in your village and wiping out most of the inhabitants).

This is honestly the first builder game that I've played that has survival elements which have serious consequences and where failure is one bad decision away.
