I can live with confusing, redundant systems and baffling controls. I cannot live with a game that plops unstoppable 400k-point fleets on top of you as a plot device. Paradox's emergent storytelling is garbage and all the aliens are functionally identical variations on 3 archetypes. Play Endless Space 2 instead.

Steep learning curve but very rewarding once you figure out how to get past the initial frustrations (like the default flight controls).
