As a big For The King I fan, this game for has proven to be a worthy successor.

Lots of interesting new items and interactions and a more complex and interactive combat system, allowing for multilayered strategies and creative setups, that would in the first game be punished. In my few runs so far, there is also a more reasonable level of difficulty that rewards good actions more.

Terrible issues with smurfing and hilariously toxic community. 1 out of 3 games you encounter some soon to be faze clan car-spin prodigy

Crypt Custodian is a metroidvania-masterpiece.

A game that implements both constant challenge with frequent combat and permanent engagement with smart and careful ly designed rooms.
I myself have rarely played a mv that to this extent kept me engaged in every single minute of the entire playthrough, which is achieved by avoiding boring backtracking, perfectly narrated pathing and by excellent quick-travel execution.

As a 100% metroidvania gamer, this game is a great pleasure to complete, with non-patronizing tools to help you find these last few collectables.

The movement is fluent and multi-facetted, which gets more and more interesting as you progress through the stages and receive new buffs that further enhance it, opening new doors for different paths.

And this does not even mention the storytelling, which is incredibly wholesome and engaging, decorated by cute characters with rich personalities and heartwarming backstories.
I would lie by saying it did not tear a little bit at the end of the story. This picture of afterlife gives me new-found hope :')

It is made with so much love for the genre and with even more love for companionship.

Its so nice to play with a loved one. The co-op experience is polished and fun, while never rushing you. A perfect change of pace from many high performance demanding co-op games.

If you have someone really dear to you, how about introducing them to this game?

Animal Well has a lovable artstyle and thrilling story progression, which will please any metroidvania player and I absolutely can recommend it to almost anyone.

However: Personally, I find playing past the main story increadible teadious and simply can not recommend anyone to aim for 100%. Also, I find it increadibly easy to get stuck on how to progress, if you are trying to avoid online guides, as there is not enough indication or hinting at where you should go next. I spent maybe 2 hours just to find the way to an entire area of the map until I finally found out there is a very unnoticable wall, that can be opened with a specific tool you eventually posess.
Many games offer a post main story tool that will give hints to the player on where to find the eggs, like in Metroid. The lack of this tool makes collecting all 65 of them a pain in the ass, if you aren't willing to study online wikipedia and guides to help you get there.
Also, the access to the quick travel system, for me personally, is not intuitive enough to access.
Additionally, the collection of Kangaroo K-Shards is bugged, leaving me in a state of 100% softlock, as I can not progress for the K-Medal.

i find that this game, from a metroidvania enthusiastic experience, is too major of a grind for a 100% experience, making it, for me, a frustrating final note on a very beautiful game that was made with lots of love.

Incredible and refreshing metroidvania with just the right difficulty. You can tell the amount of love and metroidvania knowledge that went into this game. It avoids frustrating elements in a way that doesn't feel patronizing. A strong recommend for anyone that enjoys the genre.

My wife said there were not 100 Asian cats in there. I proved her wrong - my wive said some of those Asian cats were not obvious and needlessly hard to find - I proved her wrong. My wive says I should start paying more attention to her and the children more. Well, dear reader, when has my wife been correct? The rest i will leave in the hands of the Lord.
