Been playing since day 1, on and off. A friend gifted me it for an Xmas present. Never had anything bad to say. I never cared about the bugs or glitches, but I didn't experience many, guess I was lucky. What I cared more about was whether the story and world were engrossing for me, they were. The world is amazing, it's essentially as involving as The Witcher 3 but in the future. Since this has come out I've spent hundred's of dollars on games but this one always draws me back. The level of detail on even the smallest sidequest goes to show that they really did put their all into creating a dark future for us to play around in. The combat is fun although nothing groundbreaking. As somebody who loved the Witcher 3 and has played 1000+ hours of it on console and PC combined, I really didn't care for Cyberpunk before it came out, I never kept up with the trailers or press conferences or anything, I told myself I wasn't going to play it as it was first person and I hate those games. But they have done a tremendous job. Honestly, you're depriving yourself if you don't get this and take your time with it. Sorry for the discombobulated review but it's more me blabbing about how it draws me in than a technical and gameplay critique.

Difficult to get into but the combat makes the game very fun when you can look past the bland-ish story.

I'd say get your money's worth no matter what but don't focus too much on the narrative.

Absolutely amazing, makes the Dark Souls games look like warm ups.

The combat is tight and intuitive, it isn't too far from the parry mechanic of DS, which lacked finesse, all of this feels fluid when done well, and does not slow down gameplay at all, it makes you adapt, in DS and BB the parry mechanics all but made combat easier or harder depending on the battle and was optional if you were casual. This game includes the deflect mechanic into every battle, which helps you get better, but not too good that mini-bosses and straight up bosses don't provide a real challenge, fatal attacks which must be dodged, jumped over or deflected differently compared to regular attacks with off-timings, combos that when deflected don't stop at the first hit so must be all deflected and the stealth. It's a good idea to usually stealth kill one bar off a boss / mini-boss before attempting them, as even with one health bar they can slaughter you in two or three good hits.

The posture mechanic is excellent, you feel equal to your enemies, you can either force a deathblow by depleting their posture gauge, or their health with attacks from the sides or when they're open. You have to mix it up because if you attack their posture at full health, it regenerates faster than you can deplete it. You have to change up attacks from the sides or when they let their guard down, to straight on attacks / deflects to increase the chance of victory.

Stat boosts and health upgrades are essential, but they are tied to boss / mini-boss kills. Prayer beads are for increasing health and posture, which you need 4 of for one upgrade, and attack power is increased by using battle memories, gotten for killing main story bosses. The premise is, if you need to grind, that only gives you skills, of which there are 4 trees able to be unlocked, it does not increase your stats. You have to face the challenge with what you have, you cannot change weapons or armor to tank through or burst a boss, you have to adjust your tactics to face each boss individually.

The story is still vague in places, but brings quite a bit more to the forefront with exposition, and who doesn't love a good Samurai / shinobi story? You are a shinobi in service to a prince with divine blood, the ability to resurrect those he chooses, who has been kidnapped. You must battle your way through the country you gave up your life for defending to save him.

An absolute must for anybody who loves a challenge which is fair, but demanding.

This is my first review so I apologise if nothing makes sense, and I am a From Software fan, have been for years, but I think regardless of whether you like the theme of their older games, this is one for the history books.
