This will be a thumbs down due to UX.
Early in the game you're required to go through a low tunnel gap, but there is no duck/crouch button, and the wall appears to be one solid collider (invisible wall)

The game fails to explain how to navigate this in any meaningful way. I was left stuck in the opening area until I looked up a guide.

This is a soft recommend.
The roguelike/lite ness is very annoying; it asks a lot of effort to get back to where you died. Compounding that the map is often unhelpful because there are sub-trails that can only be followed through the corners of each segment.
Still somehow quite compelling for me, where recently getting through Gato Roboto, Berserk Boy, Geno Panic and Islets was a bit of a task without the endless repeating.
If not for that grind, I'd say this game is excellent.

I enjoyed it mostly, getting one of the medium endings.
My big problems with the game:
The videos and audio recordings have a too-crisp studio quality, which I found uncanny compared to what you'd expect from a mobile phone.
Cutscene calls cannot be paused, and have no subtitles; I happened to have my headphones off *twice* because real life happened at that moment I triggered those videos and I missed them

Quite a good metroidvania. I failed to finish the first one, but the stars were right for me to do this one

Not a bad little metroidvania. Can be finished in one sitting.

Offscreen is Magic, the game
Nemesis teleports around. Nikolai teleports into frame unseen repeatedly.

I had a lot better time with Resident Evil 2 remake. This one is visually pretty, but in terms of play obnoxious. I never quite got used to the joypad sensitivity whilst aiming in this one. The narrative: annoying and lazy, and not just for character teleporting to where they need to be to punish Jill some more.

After you beat the game you can unlock extras for future playthroughs. For my unlock I choose to unwishlist RE4

Yeah, it's alright. If you've played a Creeper World game before you should know what you're in for.
If not: It's kind of a weird tower defence where you defend first, then aggressively push up your line of towers

I'm having trouble coming up with a summary for this. I don't like a lot of games that are pretty decent but have terrible writing. This one is the opposite.
Story: fascinating.
Getting around: A painful chore
Art design: Interesting
3D modelling: pretty bad
Animations: Pretty good in the cutscenes. Pretty bad idle things out in the world. Watcher's run cycle is solid. It is basically her only animation.
Special Effects: Barely present
Controls: Cut off my fingers I hate it
Sound design: Crap
Voice work: Fine to mediocre. Does not have any mixing you'd expect, like talking through a mask.

This story deserves a better game

Small and well made
I didn't *love* Islets. It does everything competently. There's no real down points. It's not exceptional in any area either. Does exactly what it sets out to do: Be a kind-of-cute metroidvania
Took me just over 5 hours to beat. There's a bunch of additional post-main-story things to do too.

It's a good megaman-like.
Levels aren't super long or complex. It's quite appropriate for short sittings. I got through my playthrough in 5 hours, but also I missed about a third of the collectibles and more than half of the achievements so you can push to get more out of it.
