Played the demo and tried to look past the performance/framerate issues, micro stuttering, and lack of mid mission saves.

Bought the full tonight and got stuck on a bug on the intro mission that I didn't hit playing the demo.

Patch notes state the issue is fixed but it isnt.

The biggest problem this game has is that it's not fun. The controls are too clunky and cumbersome. The driving is really lackluster. They wanted to do too many things and lost sight of how to make it flow well.

Refunded for now hoping they fix the massive performance issues and game breaking bugs - and hopefully a redesign of the controls/UI to make it fun.

Hard games can be fun - but hard games can just be hard.

It doesnt run well (the rendering engine is garbage). at 144hz its rendering 2 out of 5 frames. render 2 - skip 3 - render 2 - skip 3. your cockpit renders at 144hz - everything else at 57.6hz.

the controls on most HOTAS controllers has a huge deadzone that cannot be easily fixed.

and the studio seems to prioritize things like the character "Keo" as being important, but not a properly running game.

btw one of the writers tweeted that he loves Anita Sarkeesian back in 2014 - which explains so many things about why this game is destined to fail.

gamers - rise up and refund this terrrible game. if you dont now - your games will only get worse.

You cant turn off snap / quick turning. Most FPS games support smooth turning with the analog stick - but HL:A does not. It is insanely immersion breaking and an unbelievable oversight by Valve to have omitted it or bug the disable button.

I cant review the rest of the game because I refuse to play it until the problem is fixed. Im also tired of having to fight with game companies for them to build proper VR titles. Skydance got crouching wrong with The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners and had to scramble to patch it the first few days.

What I cannot fathom or understand - is why is it the playtesters are people who hate VR? Who dont have their VR legs? Dont know what makes a game work well.

If I, a VR enthusiast, who has the $1000 kit, can hate the game in 15 seconds - ♥♥♥♥ me right? Seriously - what are you doing Valve? Patch this - and Ill gladly update my review. This should have been patched 10 hours ago.

As someone who used to be a regular at the laser tag arena back in the 90s I find Battle Dome to be a blast. It really is a great game.

The only downside to it are these small points:

1. no ability to kick AFK teammates
2. people mic spam sometimes, constantly
3. little kids mic spamming
4. idit teammates who dont know what they're doing

Beyond that its a great game. I would like the ability to know which player is which username (my team and other team). Has a lot of balance issues that need to be addressed. 2-3 good opponents, along with the ramps secured = game over.

BUT its the first VR game thats sucked me in. Great pace, an hour session will leave you worn out.

If you are buying this for VR right now, dont. Just wait for a patch. It does not work well, has bugs, just wait. I hope that Codemasters will take this one seriously. They owe it to me after they messed up Grid 2.
