Game was free*, so i didnt expect to have all the nice bells and whistles from the start.
i played with my twitch friends, since the game seemed fun enough, despite the excessive sweaty lobby players playing like professional fortnite players~ doesnt bother me, since i know kids of all ages play this game.
I had a decently fun time laughing at horrible some strategies can end up winning the match for my team.

Fast forward where I go to play this game solo and i have a horrible time.
I'm honestly not even mad about the players in this game.

Servers are so spaghetti, it is impossible to have a decent and fair match without at least one game with:

> no footsteps/gunshot
> overly exaggerated audio sources from across the other side of the map
> non registering gun shots (you hear the bullet hit the enemy but they take no damage)
> lagged bullets/being shot through walls/after completely closing doors.
> event themes that ~CLEARLY~ haven't been thoroughly tested before public release, glitches and audio bugs left-and-right
> servers that just shut down consistently/getting kicked out of lobbies because a server hiccup
> ability exploits that take so much time to repair; By the time it's noticed and reffered to by the developers, the glitch/hack has made at least a dozen hundred reddit meme posts and youtube videos of other players how to exploit it.
> actual. legit. pay-to-win cosmetics .........and 'NEW' pay-to-lose skins (see also: Mirage's recolored skin exploit)
> hackers. They will always be around, unfortunately- However, there is only ONE (1) person in charge to review hacker reports, despite having video proof. So you can only assume how pointless your report will be.
> unfair cross-platform advantages. This can be iffy and argued against, In my experience with cross-platform PVP games, there was a viable 'middle-ground' or at least an option to join in or out, knowing the consequences of having longer wait time in lobbies. However, when players on console , who have an AUTO-AIM, (or <<stronger aim assist>> as the game calls it) get tossed in a game with desktop users? you can tell it will make a lot of players unhappy. Moreso when desktop players cant opt out of cross-platform games but console players can.
> forced maps rotations (if you're lucky to even have an actual rotation) and unequal time rotations (3 hours on 'Gank City' Kings Canyon and 30 minutes on 'Funnel Exit' Olympus)
> gun(s) that need rebalancing/reworking. This wouldnt be an issue if there were new guns added once in a while... but in a single season, there has been 5 gun stat-reworks and still needed more. (See also: "shotgun is still the only weapon to assure a game win")
> items labled "Common"s and "Rare"s that are just as good as synonyms for each other. You will come across a "rare" level 3 heavy mag 8 times before you come across a "common" level 1 amour
> graphic settings that are gamebreaking, inconsistent and quite pointless (i.e. 'putting everything at low settings' wont actually make your game run faster)
> learning actual in-game basic techniques that could significantly change your experience... that is written absolutely NOWHERE in the game. Instead, it took me 10 hours of gameplay to eventually go look at videos of random people telling me what they learned 'by accident'. (see also: Loba's teleporting bug)

Other than that, its a decently fun game when it works and a great battle royale to play with friends on streams.
I wouldn't tell you if you should or shouldn't pay money for the game~ but I don't see myself playing this game more than I could spend time playing any other PUBG on my own time.

+ Multi-layered strategy puzzle game with great graphics and effects.
++ Multiple Japonese V/A's for each female character facing in story mode.
+++ My fiancee loves the Anime/Hentai art and the 'Candy Crush' vibe to it so she doesnt get upset when she sees im playing- in fact, she plays the game as well!

- Fiancee doesn't know how to play game in offline mode and now my friends at work are judging me thoroughly.
-- I can't seem to convice anyone she plays the game more than i do.
--- Even the game itself judges me when i play.

im split 50/50 between actually recommending this visual novel game in general.

The story is short but the three main characters are charismatic,
The art is colorful and dynamic but somehow it feels rushed in place,
The variety of choices are few but the endings are adorable/romantic +1 romance when using the patch
and the final ending is a cliffhanger but the story is too short to have such a suspended suspense- the devs should have invested time to put more story in this one game instead of making it a short two-parter.. even if steam policies are obstructing these kind of games

If you have a few dollars to spare and you want a relaxing soundtrack with cute red head animu girls, have at it.
I would have never bought this if it wasnt on sale. Though i dont regret it, i dont find myself immersed in the novel's story as much as I imagined I would- which is dissapointing.

Bought it because it had sharks
Played it because it had pirates
Completed it meticulously because it had great character developments
studied it because it had great TF artwork
9/10 would set sail with angry rogue bat and succubus leopard again

"oops, i accidently spent another 100 hours on this game these past two weeks..."
and
"just one more grind; i'd hate to let my booster go to waste"

just a few of the things you think to yourself while playing Warframe
not that i'm complaining, anyways........

tl;dr
If you're reading this review, you've trying to see if you have the stomach to play this psycological horror game
or this is in your friends' activity feed :^)

As for a detailed analysis: -spoiler free-

Despite the cute waifu-esque appearance, there's a very morbid, dark and twisted subplot to this visual novel.
As a free game, it's worth it's one hour entertainment. I wouldn't be able to 'not recommend' this game since it's free but i would most definitely not be personally suggesting this to anybody i know, considering the sensitive topics and graphic scenes.

This isn’t an anime Jaden Smith would make a cameo in :toblerone:

My biggest nitpick is in the pacing of the storyline. The story itself is original and also delivers a little bit more customizable interactions with the characters. The climax only gets predictable as soon as you see a few of the more 'special' options you can choose. Those points are not the same kind of choices you would expect in any other generic anime visual novel. After that point on, it's basically story-triggers, one after another with no actual story arc and it feels like they are just trying to cram as many surprises/conflicts at you, at the cost of the sub-plot pacing of the game itself.

They're basically trying to jump scare you, when you're already preparing yourself for the next surprise.

Another boggling thought is how the characters 'would-be-called personality' seem to suddenly develop without any actual reasoning, compared to every other character the player ("you") meet. How is one character able to perceive traits, living in the same scenario as the others, yet have more of a power advantage from the others. There is, what i can assume, a brief explanation at the end but it feels out of place or needs to be subtly implemented at a more steady pace alongside the whole story. -that being said, there aren’t enough characters in this visual novel to really make a decent character analysis but I’m only assuming the author based the 'members' from generic anime character types. (the captain, the shy one, the 'tsundere' and the social klutz)

I Googled what 'Doki-doki' means and came to the conclusion that there isn't any 'doki-doki's in this game, ironically.

Seeing there are more psychological/self-aware games, this one stands out from the norm horror novels I’ve read online but falls short to actually impress. It's free so there isn't anything to lose. Just be sure to understand that all those 'content warnings' are not just to flaunt itself. If you are currently under psychological treatment or you are feint of heart, do not play this game - you will be mentally scarred with the gore and explicit imagery of cartoon characters

5/10

Early Access Review
*edit/update: I did a little research and found the game has a completed SFW mobile app version of the game. Though the mobile game doesnt have the interactive puzzle as the steam version, I am more willing to suggest that game for the time being. I've since then sent my support on the patreon and suggest other fans of the game to do the same.

I'm a sucker for waifu-material visual novels and bonus points for reminding me how much i love sharkt_ts. I personally dont regret buying this game since I feel like there should be more sharkchan dating sims out on the interwebs and it was only a buck.....

H O W E V E R

I could tell, from the first five minutes in the game, that this game was not meant for steam standards.
I would play dating simulators like these on newgrounds for free (back when it was in it's prime). I don't mind the fan service and the cheesy punch lines it gives out but buying this game for the sake of 'rubbing a quick one out' is short sighted and in the end, only leaves me with a sad boner.

There is potential in this dating sim, i'm thankful this is still in early access, but the dev has a lot to catch up and adjust if he wants this game to 'swim' well with most of the waifu dating sim fans out there.

in regards to the chapter 1 puzzle game [spoilerI personally find it silly to have that last pose censored considering it is the only part of the game the player actually has to work to get right even if steam rules prevent posting genitalia [/spoiler]

it pains me to unrecommend this game, but there is still much work to be done, even if the game isnt officially complete.
I have faith in you, Sharku-senpai-sama-animu-chan-ugu-desu
