It's very common to hear that this game is "profound" or "deep" but as long as you have a functioning adult brain it's hardly either. The story is not subtle at all and revolves around an abandoned Army unit shooting their way through an abandoned city to be rescued. The game is always throwing enemies at you that you have no choice but to engage, and in a very hamfisted way tried to make you feel bad about it. I like the idea of what this game tries to accomplish, it's just done poorly and falls flat. The goofy villain's speech at the end of Uncharted 2 (PlayStation exclusive unfortunately) does a better job than this game.

Gameplay wise, this game is very bland, even for it's release date. I've brought this up before and people have literally defended it by saying "it's on purpose! it let's you focus on the themes!!" Moving your character doesn't feel good or smooth and the gunplay is just as bad. Some of the set pieces are pretty interesting, but the game is mostly a shooting gallery.

There is a multiplayer mode that I feel obligated to say I've never tried and I wouldn't be surprised at all if the servers are empty or just nonexistent at this point.

If you wanna explore the story this game tries to tell, find it in another medium. If you want to just play a shooter with a military setting, there's plenty of other options. If you insist on playing this game, it goes on sale often for very cheap.
