Hades is a highly polished, story-driven rogue-lite. It's full of things to unlock, great dialogue, humour and charm. The soundtrack is superb as well.

There are many weapons and builds to try on your quest to escape the underworld. Go get it!

Satisfying gameplay loop and great soundtrack. Plenty of secrets to find and stuff to unlock.

The move to 3D makes things fairly difficult IMO, but it's better than it was in early access.

This game suffers from every Ubisoft cliche you can think of, unfortunately. It's very repetitive, you climb towers, and there's an open world with nothing truly interesting to do.

Play it if you love the Ubisoft formula. Skip if you're looking for interesting gameplay.

Early Access Review
Combining rogue-lite elements with Dark Souls influences definitely works for Dead Cells. The game is extremely playable even in Early Access, featuring satisfying combat and clever progression elements.

Moirai is incredibly simple in both concept and execution. Its main feature is a unique ending, revolving around actions and consequences.

I would recommend playing it. Exploring the entire map takes less than 10 minutes.

There's a lot of hate for the game on Steam, so I thought I'd chime in.

I played the original Fallout Shelter on Android when it was released, it was a novel and fun take on the fallout universe that you could play on the go and enjoy. On release it felt a bit one dimensional, and after a few sessions I got bored of it.

Playing the PC port feels nice. The game has been updated in the past couple of years and has a lot more content, which gives it a lot more purpose in my opinion. The introduction of quests at a certain progression level amps up the entire gameplay loop. You receive a ton of rewards per successful mission and can loot nuka currency (which you would "need" to buy otherwise).

Let me repeat that last part: you DO NOT need to purchase anything, in any microtransaction to enjoy this game. I use nuka currency to speed up traveling to/from the wasteland and loot more nuka than I use by doing quests. There are also various miscellanous ways to earn caps which you can find out for yourself by playing.

This is not a big time-sink RPG. It's a really nice game to play for short periods of time. If you really want to play a long session you can easily do so by questing, which gives it more of a singleplayer Fallout vibe and disproportionally positive rewards compared to the start activities.

HAVING SAID THAT, the PC port itself is very basic. Mouse control is finnicky, and I often find myself not being able to click and drag properly. To some people this will be a very big deal, so it's worth mentioning.

UPDATE 3 (October 18th): I can now safely recommend that you purchase the expansion.

However, I will not be changing my review to positive because that will reset ratings and make this post less visible. The hotfixes issued for 1.18 fix the bare minimum required to make it playable in my opinion. There is still much to fix, but it might not come for a while.

UPDATE 2 (October 17th): The new AI developer for EU4 has confirmed changes to the fort system are being attempted. Namely cheating with maintenance[forum.paradoxplaza.com] and cheating with zone of control.[forum.paradoxplaza.com]

UPDATE (October 14th): Aggressive Expansion (AE) and the vassal-release bug have been fixed along with other important things. Forts are likely to remain the same for a while until Paradox acknowledges the current system is flawed.

ORIGINAL REVIEW (October 13th):

This is probably the best expansion for EU4, and you shouldn't buy it. At least not yet (as of October 13th, 2016).

It's not even about the cost, though 20 %InsertCurrencyHere% is a lot for a DLC (and I honestly believe Paradox is over-capitalising on this one). It's about the game being incredibly broken right now.

Here are some issues people have been reporting with 1.18, presumably there are more:
• AI ignores zone-of-control if your fort is near another country (any country, even if it's neutral).
• Fort sieges are nonsensical. Besieging armies receive penalties in battle even if the siege is part of a different war. This is stupid and should be removed. Couple this with the AI cheating on a number of clauses relating to forts and you have a ****fest.
• Armies deploy badly. Weak units end up in the front centre line and shatter quickly.
• Large AI conquests sometimes result in the AI going haywire, releasing 10-20 vassals out of nowhere (Ottomans, France).

The first hotfix issued just 1-2 days following release fixed none of the above. Do not buy this expansion until Paradox fixes their ****. Seriously. You should wait for at least 1-2 more hotfixes before you throw your money at a broken product.

I will be updating this review when they actually do so.

Early Access Review
Rimworld is a very good game on its own, but is still being actively developed with additional content. Mods for this game are highly mature and expand the base game even more, making it a truly diverse and enjoyable simulation of running a colony.

If you have fond memories of the early days of Minecraft and Terraria, enjoy games like Prison Architect or Cities: Skylines and want a game that tries to blend everything together, look no further. It might seem overwhelming but it really isn't hard to pick up and play right off the bat.

EU4 to me is a game you don't play on the regular. Granted, when you do play, it's 100 hours at a time...
