I have had a love/hate relationship with Fallout 76.

When this first launched i was one of the (un)lucky ones to have bought the power armour edition and be caught up in that whole nylon bag ordeal. Turns out, that was only the start of the problems with the game. Buggy, boring, empty, repetitive are all the best words i can use to describe the game at launch.

Me and a friend tried to power through because fallout but co-op! We tried to see the good things in it somehow, but ended up falling off like most people. From there, we jumped back in every 6-8 months or so to find it was still... just not good, and then we'd subsequently abandon it for another 6 months.

Enter 2024, where we jump in and idk what happened. It was just suddenly, good?

Enemies don't feel like bullet sponges, there are actual interactable characters and stories in the world, progression doesn't feel like a chore, quests and events are actually fun. Fallout 76 finally felt like a Fallout.

Don't get me wrong, there's still a ways to go. There's bugs galore (not counting bloatflies and stingwings of course), Fallout 1st is just.. idk, not wanted? Just get rid of it pls. Team progression still not a thing (yeh, really. Don't ask me why) and i feel like as a Bethesda title, it will just never get to the top, but for what its worth, i can actually recommend this game finally.

Wanna play Fallout but with a friend? Yeh i can actually finally say, go jump into Fallout 76.
Just make sure you don some power armour so you don't eat dirt every other second because enemies still hit like trucks if your not careful.

Spent an hour just trying to get it to run without freezing to a complete stop every 2 minutes and no luck.
Ubisoft clearly hasn't patched this in years, and of course has no intention to - and I'm simply unable to patch it myself not for lack of trying.

Man all i wanna do is play the OG. Sucks that i cant.

This is just not great.
I only stuck it out to ensure i know the story of the universe moving forward as I'm a huge borderlands fan.
Took me 11 hours to finish it and 90% of it felt like watching a poorly written excruciatingly long movie.
It sucks because I love borderlands, and the previous tales was great, but this just isn't it.

I followed this game for years in development, preordered and of course then played at launch. I then proceeded to maybe put in 20hrs. All the bugs and issues and emptiness of the game left a sour taste in my mouth and i put it down, and didn't pick it up until now - 4 years later. Though not for lack of trying over the last few years. I tried a few times and don't think i played more than 5 minutes at a time.

Jumping back in now, I have to say, it feels like a completely different game. I have had an amazing time playing through this game finally. I've now gone through and completed 100% of everything (bar one last ending, at time of review), before picking up Phantom Liberty and I've enjoyed every moment of it (except that one miss-able achievement...). Since picking it back up, I have put in 120 odd hours experiencing everything this game has to offer.
Though the main story feels SUPER short, the life of Cyberpunk 2077 lies in its side missions, gigs, world building and well written side characters.

If your like me and left it behind in 2020, i think its well worth a revisit now. I reckon you will be pleasantly surprised.

**UPDATED**
Still runs like garbage more than 6 months after launch.
I put up with frame drops to 1fps and mad stuttering for 50hrs trying to enjoy what i could but its just not worth it anymore.

Might change my review at a later date if they actually make the game run not like garbage at some point.

12/04/25:
If i could leave a "somewhere in the middle" review, this one would be it.

I finally came back to this game after a almost 2 years to see if anything changed since i put this down.

I am, i guess glad to see that it now runs like an actual game, albeit, still patchy at times, and still with major FPS drops, but not to the extent it used to be.
The game itself (outside of performance issues) is fine i guess. It does well to separate itself from any existing Potter lore (mainly due to time period) and give itself its own sort of universe to play with.

The world itself is the biggest issue for me.
Outside of Hogwarts, the majority of the playable area is just the Scottish highlands that spans far too vast, includes nothing but the same repeatable tasks every 5 meters and does little to keep you wanting to explore other than trying the appeal to your inner completionist to get all of those map markers cleared.

I just wish Hogwarts itself was bigger. For a game called Hogwarts Legacy, so much of the game takes place outside of Hogwarts and I just found that disappointing. Hogwarts should have been the star of the game, but it kind of takes a backseat for most of it.
However, when you're exploring Hogwarts, The game does very well in making it feel alive, but it just feels a little too small with how vast the rest of the world is.

I would have much preferred if the map were only Hogwarts, Hogsmeade and the forbidden forest but have all of those areas, be twice the size. Exploring additional areas is totally fine, but I think it would've gone down better with a larger focus on Hogwarts, and maybe some sort of story quest set pieces taking us to Azkaban or Godrics Hollow.

The story is a bit mediocre and predictable in most parts. Some side characters are well written, some are a bit bland. Some fall just in the middle. Each house has its dedicated side character arc, which i think are the better written parts of the game.

The combat is fluid and tight, but repetitive. Enemies continue to feel like spell sponges majority of the game, enemy variety is really non-existent. The further into the game you get, it feels like it just throws more enemies at you, and extends the time you are actually in combat.

I think the game does ok to scratch the Hogwarts itch that has been missing for so long, it just also at the same time, leaves alot to be desired.
I will admit, I think I did come in with a bit of a bias, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix game did Hogwarts so well, and I wanted it to feel like that again and it just didn't. And after the initial launch where I wasn't able to play properly, it did leave a sour taste.

If you're after an entire "Wizarding World" experience, Hogwarts legacy could scratch the itch, if you wants a Hogwarts experience, I don't think the aptly named "Hogwarts Legacy" will do that.

I want to start off by saying that while i do recommend the game, it isn't without its flaws.

I waited over a year to pick this up, seeing pretty mediocre reviews and a loud majority tearing it to shreds for repetitious gameplay, an unrewarding reward system an abundance of micro-transactions had me turning my back on a game i was so excited for for so long. But recently i found myself looking for something new to play and saw it on sale.

I grabbed it at a little more than half price and i will admit I've had fun with it. I finished the main campaign and I personally found the story to be pretty good, clearly distancing itself from any MCU ties and establishing itself as its own story, maybe even its own universe with it being a "live service" game? There's a decent amount of base game campaign to play through with the Kate Bishop, Hawkeye or Black Panther expansions included. I haven't made it to them but I'm certainly going to dive into them soon enough.

The gameplay is certainly fun but at times can leave a little to be desired. I personally found a handful of heroes that seem to play nicer than the others, Black Widow, Cap & Thor, to be specific. After a while you will certainly get the feeling of repetition with the games dungeon like mission styles called war zones. I haven't quite tackled any endgame stuff but leveling heroes for higher ranked war zones can get a little repetitious and i assume that is essentially the endgame loop.

Inventory and gear system is strange. It's a mix of 2 or 3 systems that just don't seem to really speak to each other well. Leaving one or the other lacking at certain points despite technically being on level.
Additionally, gear for your heroes makes no difference to the look of any of them. The only physical changes come from skins, of which for the duration of the campaign, i only unlocked story based skins. Most of the non marketplace skins, and even most of the marketplace ones are so-so.

Are some of the issues i stated in the beginning still present today? Absolutely. But i think for me, going into it with low expectations allowed me to enjoy what the game did offer; A decent story and getting to beat up some bad guys as the avengers.
As a marvel fan, that's great to me.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is an absolutely stunning follow up to a game that so many thought could not be topped.
Breathtaking visuals, a story and writing that will consume you and deliver every emotion ever, masterfully crisp and exhilarating combat, fantastically crafted characters and a vast and vibrant world that you are truly able to immerse yourself in.
After playing something like 200+ hours when it first released on console, i couldn't help but pick this up on PC to do it all again and so i could share with others just how fantastic it is.

Not sure why this game took me 8 years to actually play through to the end. I guess ill just say that im absolutely 8 years LATE because i wish i got to this sooner!
Fantastic game from start to finish with so much replayability. Full stealth, non lethal, lethal, ranged, close quarters, and any mix of any of them and more. You choose how to play and the game will reward you, or punish you, for your choice of play style. 11/10

Your either going to get a lot out of this game or nothing at all.

Odyssey has a lot of good things going for it. Combat is smooth and is an upgrade on AC: Origins, as well as inventory, armour & outfit systems, world size and how full of life it is.
The story for how far i got in was pretty mediocre, And with seemingly no ties to any sort of assassin related story, It doesn't do well to pull you in or help you begin to care about being a mercenary.

At some stage your going to see how big AC: Odyssey is, and that will either pull you further in or push you away. I personally got overwhelmed by how big it is and just how much there is to do.
The "odyssey"/questing system doesn't help you much in the way of guiding you. It just puts more of an emphasis on how much you have left to complete. With so much of the story quests being, for example; X different quest lines leading you to complete one "odyssey" chapter and at certain points you will have multiple "odyssey" chapters.

Its just overwhelmingly big. If your specifically after something huge, this should suit, but if not then maybe stay away or give into the fact that it may take you, as it has for me, over 2 years to even get 70 hours in with not a hell of a lot of story complete.
