Don't blame the rng... blame yourself.

The game is incredibly fun. With good tactics you can beat every mission, legendary difficulty as well. It has a lot of tactical depth. The modding community offers a lot of content and can add even more hours of fun to this game.

Does not start. Proposed workaround by devs to delete the cinematics folder. Steam supprt is a joke. Not recommended.
