For Honor had a really rocky start, but it's been improving as time goes on. It's the first fighting game I've been able to enjoy past 5 hours in. Oh yeah, this is a fighting game, so New players beware - you're going to get curb stomped for your first few hours. The matchmaking takes a little while to put you up against people in your skill level, but when that starts you can really start improving.
Another thing, there is an extremely vocal salty minority of people playing this game. Most people will greet new players with advice or help practicing, because we know this game needs help recovering from its garbage launch.
A lot of people (that don't play For Honor) say that the game is Pay to Win - yes, it does have microtransactions, but these will do nothing but allow you to unlock sparkly cosmetics, activate champion status to get more exp and end of match loot, or play the gear slot machine hoping for gear with decent stats. It can definitely be a bit grindy, and most all of the community thinks that exp and steel rates should be increased to make the game feel less like a grind for good cosmetics, but there is no real incentive to make any microtransactions unless you enjoy the game but don't have time to sink into it to get what you want.
The gameplay is in my opinion where the game shines. Everything feels impactful, the animations are top tier, and the executions are brutal as hell - especially Shugoki's. Some characters are stronger than others, but there is always a bit of skill required to win unless you're playing against some braindead guy that only does 1 attack over and over.
In all, I'd say if you like decapitating people in various ways with various medieval weaponry, like the idea of being a knight, viking, or samurai, or just enjoy non-traditional fighting games this would be a good time sink. Pick it up on sale or during a (admittedly too few and far between) free weekend, try to get some friends in on it or make new ones while you play and just try to have fun.

The story(ies) will make you feel like garbage, the gameplay requires some skill, the soundtrack is god-tier, the characters are very well-written. Well worth the 10 dollars, i enjoyed this feel trip.

after 1500 hours, i strongly reccommend this game. it has a steep learning curve, but once you figure out the basic mechanics of every hero/role you can have a lot of fun, especially if you play with friends. unless your friends are bad, of course. if you want to play this game, look up some beginner guides on youtube or something, they'll help you a lot. oh, and for christ's sake, buy dust if you're up against a Riki.

Early Access Review
requires you to be creative, but really fun and addictive game with quick pvp matches. spent more time figuring out which design works the best than actually playing against people lol.
