A fantastic blend of ARPG and Soulslike. High skill, great combat, AMAZING world design - some of the best I've ever seen, in fact. The layouts of the areas are spectacular, particularly the verticality. There's a reason I have 80+ hours into the game! It's one of my favorite games at the moment. If you are a fan of Diablo and Souslikes, there's no way you won't dig this. It's a fresh and unique take on tried-and-true mechanics. Can't wait for the next patch!

They should have called this game Hades x2, because there is at least twice the content. If you liked H1, it's hard to imagine you won't love H2. Just buy it, ya hoser.

I'm having a blast! I can't think of another game quite like it. Lots of verticality, lots of speed, lots of explosions, insanely fun. I'm a speedrunner, so I like going fast, and this game definitely delivers on that front. I'm also a huge fan of movement tech, and the jetpack/skateboarding feel of the game hits all the right buttons for me. Competitive games feel competitive, casual games feel casual, balance feels on point for the most part. Despite that, the skill floor is pretty high, so expect to get destroyed for your first 10-20 matches until you get a feel for things.

On the other side of the coin, DLC is waaaaay more expensive than I thought it would be, but thankfully it's cosmetics-only. (I bought anyway it to support the developers, but dang, that's a lot of dough.) Doesn't feel super optimized either - I had to knock my settings down to high because my computer was getting super hot. Really wish I could make mods and host my own servers, but that's probably asking a bit much for $20.

A few things annoy me gameplay-wise. Heavies get knocked around pretty easily and other players slide right off his model, which makes it difficult to defend the flag. Mines blow up after taking any amount of damage damage, but the proximity of their self-detonation seems teeny tiny. Flag carriers often fly around during stalemates rather than returning to base and having a good ol' fashioned standoff, which I find pretty boring.

All that said, if you can deal with the negatives, the worst of which have nothing to do with the gameplay itself, there is an insanely good time to be had with Tribes 3. The gameplay itself is absolutely phenomenal, and I'm having more fun than I've had in an online FPS in years.

What a neat game! I'll preface this by saying this game probably isn't everything you hope and dream for - it certainly wasn't what I expected it to be - but if you go in with an open mind and no expectations, I guarantee you'll find a lot to love.

First thing's first: The game has incredible breadth,, but at the sake of depth. If you're expecting deep crafting trees where you build entire cities tile-by-tile, you'll be disappointed. If you expect the game to focus heavily on dino riding, or armed combat, or colonizing a new world, or really any one thing, you'll be disappointed. The game has all of this, but none of it is the focus. Instead, it has a ton of mechanics that are well-implemented but do not explore said mechanics to their fullest extent. I *loved* this design decision once I accepted it, because it allows the game to constantly flow and change and offer new experiences without having to spend hours mastering the previous experiences.

The pacing is fantastic. As soon as I was getting a bit bored of one era, I would be whisked off to another. The game also requires you to bounce between eras, meaning you'll never completely move on. There's always a reason to revisit old worlds. It would have been cool for the dinosaur era to have more going on, but the design makes sense for the scope of the project, and I don't begrudge a solo dev for not creating Jurassic Emprise.

Combat is okay. The dodge mechanic is wild and a ton of fun, but I found fights were either trivially easy to dodge in and out and not take damage, or they were almost impossible to do melee so I switched to bow. Turns out kiting is also trivially easy. Still, the combat is miles better than, say, Atlas. Somewhere between Atlas and Conan, I'd say.

The skill tree is quite unique, in that it also acts as your journal. I personally enjoyed this a lot, though I'll admit sometimes it's a bit too hand-holdy. Easy fix, don't look at the skill tree unless you're stuck! The way its designed makes this feasible.

There are some bugs. Nothing game breaking, but I've had enemies not do damage, and I had a colony member spawn in the floor. I had to make a basket pretty much on top of them, which caused them to access its inventory and pop up and out of the ground.

Overall, game is a lot of fun! Controls are good, graphics range from okay to absolutely stunning, sound design is unremarkable. The main meat of this game is its variety and competent implementation of its various mechanics. Totally worth buying if you enjoy survival experiences. Looking forward to the sequel!

This game RULES. You think parrying in Dark Souls is hard? Try snaking yourself out onto a 20ft pole and dangling over the eternal abyss to grab that last gold coin. Don't like Snakey's adorable face fool you, this game is hardcore af. And when you master the controls? Oh man. What a feeling.

Seriously though, super fun game with challenging controls and charming aesthetic. If you like movement/physics games with novel controls, you'll probably have a blast - and if you don't, you'll absolutely know within the span of Steam's return time limit. If you're not having fun within an hour, it's only going to get worse; but if you are having fun, it just gets better and better. Pick it up on sale, pick it up not on sale, just pick it up! You have nothing to lose.

In this, the year of our Lord 2023, what can I say that hasn't already been said? I would say buy it, but you can't buy a game that you already own. You do own this, right?

Why are you reading this? It's free, go play it! It's really good. I'd have paid 5 bucks for it in a heartbeat.

I played this quite awhile ago, and my memory sucks, so unfortunately the details of what makes this game so amazing are fuzzy. What I recall is that RotTP is truly a hidden gem of a JRPG. Despite only having played through it once, I consider it to be just as good as any of the other amazing JRPGs in the recent explosion - Chained Echoes, Sea of Stars, Crystal Project and the like - and even better in some regards. I would say it is closest to Sea of Stars, which is a huge compliment (to both games). The combat is great, the team made really good design decisions throughout, the story is engaging, the characters have depth... overall, just a really memorable experience. Highly recommend!

Curse of the Dead Gods was a great game, but it lacked... something. I can't put my finger on it, but something about it failed to truly engage me. I enjoyed my time with it, but I didn't replay it endlessly like I did Hades or Dead Cells or Slay the Spire.

Enter Ravenswatch. Passtech took all of the brilliance from Curse of the Dead Gods and left all its baggage. This game is an absolute treat. It is clear they spent significant time and energy ruminating on the short-comings of CotDG - and whatever conclusions they drawn were the right ones, because that intangible something is completely gone. This game is top shelf.

I was hesitant to purchase Ravenswatch due to there only being one level, but honestly? For me, this game isn't really about the levels. It's about the character design, The characters are such a treat to play that I can (and have) played this single level over and over. But hey, new level drops this month, and I'm super excited!

If you're questioning whether it's worth it for one level, it totally is for me. If it isn't for you, I feel comfortable telling you that you'll 100% know within 2 hours if it's worth keeping. Give it a shot. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
