Dear Esther is a great concise walking simulator, and one of my favorites of the genre. I've been slowly gathering my thoughts for years as it has stuck in my mind.

The setting is beautiful. Grass sweeps in the wind, waves crash against rocks, moonlight settles gracefully over the sea.
The audio too does a lot to sell the game and its premise, the narrator is smooth and is enjoyable to hear, like a good podcast.

If you can accept its slower pace, or have been turned off by walking sims in the past, this one is well stuck to genre conventions, but by keeping it short, it didn't overstay its welcome for me, and left with a lasting impression.

What Warhorse Studios did here is legitimately wonderful, and they have quickly risen to become one of my favorite game studios working.

If you like first-person adventure games, Bethesda's skyrim being the obvious comparison, you'll probably like this. Beware though that this game will put you through your paces. When you start, you are some no name dude and you will get treated like it, anyone with a sword, or worse, chainmail, will smoke you on sight.
But eventually you get your own nice armor and become a tough as nails knight who can take big hits, and more importantly dish them back out .

Really fun in its current state, but a little limited. More is to come though, so pick it up now and come along for the ride.

A fantastic game. Beautiful art style, unique world, memorable levels, great stealth gameplay in the vein of something like the old thief games. A personal favorite of mine. For $10 you wont regret it.

My favorite of the series, the addition of some physics objects makes it a lot more fun sometimes. Watching paint cans and casings fly around a room as you jump slide and dodge through a combat encounter.

I feel like people don't play this one as much with it being the middle of the trilogy but its so worth your time.

Honestly a lot of fun if you can get past some of the dated jokes. The grenade launcher in this game is up there for me with some of the best weapons in FPS history.

This one is sort of the odd one out of the big 3 build engine games but this remaster works beautifully and I had a lot of fun playing. Absolutely worth a shot.

Good game, worth your time.

Great aesthetics. Great first and second acts. Great narrative.
*but*
Stupid pipes minigame you have to play like 150 times, clunky combat, and a horrible third act.

Still buy it though, its worth your time.

Also it literally didn't crash for me once

I played this right after Bioshock, which many people call like an all time great shooter. Of the two, I would say this is better. Where Bioshock probably has a better narrative, this game is a much more consistently enjoyable, highly focused experience.

From a technical standpoint, something is just a little off, however. The mouse movement never really felt right, and this is actually the first game i've played where the basic sensitivity was FAR too low. I actually had to change the DPI on my mouse just to get it to act relatively normally. Go into the .ini file if you need.

Its worth getting over that hump for though, I put off playing this for like several months then just beat it playing pretty much non-stop for two days. Its a lot of fun and actually has a pretty solid third act. You start totally weak and powerless, you get a bunch of guns and more ammo than you know what to do with, then slowly the game weans you out of all of that leading up to a climax that felt like I had to really use everything I had to reach the end.
