It's got great things going for it. But man, does it crash so very often and have major multiplayer connection issues. Often takes twenty minutes just to get in a game with other people, then you have to hope the game doesn't crash, or the host kick you right at the end, amongst other issues. I want to give it a thumbs up, but it really needs to work on this stuff before I can.

You can't get past the tutorial without doing everything the tutorial levels want you to do.

One such task is to build a thing out of bricks. It's meant to teach you how to trade. You can't make bricks, you have to trade for them. How do you trade? You set up a trade route with a city, then hope the city sends you a trade offer. Been getting tons of trade requests to sell papyrus. Zero brick offers. Great game.

Game constantly hard crashes my computer, and the last crash corrupted the save file as well. Not worth my time trying to fix it when every other game I play works fine.

I like it. Other reviews will do better justice on the good and bad points so I'll let them do that. Instead, I want to talk about one issue I have with the game.

It's trying too hard to be fallout new vegas in space.

This game has an identity crisis, where it wants to be it's own thing, but it's also obviously trying to grab the nostalgia from new vegas and ride that at the same time. What it ends up being is kinda a sad mix of properties that almost feels like a toned-down borderlands rather than it's own thing.

The whole game is supposed to be a commentary on the oversaturation of commercialization, but you don't really /see/ it. Sure, every npc with dialog will tell you how oppressive the different megacorporations are, but the advertisements and product placements aren't any worse than most other games. Borderlands made me hate corps more than this. Hell in mass effect, hearing commander shepard repeatedly mention his favorite store on loop was more annoying - and I know it sounds strange that I'd take "less annoying" to be a bad thing, but it's sort of indicative of the whole game. It's... watered down. Like it's missing part of it's soul.

Fallout in some ways has a similar feel, but that's actually fine - fallout is very much about life after death, and if it feels like there's something missing, that actually adds to the theme rather than detracts. I think that if they really wanted to ride the nostalgia train, they should have simply made a fallout clone, like wasteland did. It didn't help that they also marketed this to basically be new vegas 2.0 when it's clearly not a AAA title.

All in all, it's a good AA game. Just a shame they felt the need to stick so close to their previous work.

I'm going to stick with this game for a while, because I paid a considerable amount for it and unfortunately went past the two hour return window, but good gods is this game boring as ♥♥♥♥. Long ass ride times that you can't skip, tedious controls and unhelpful UI. I really seriously cannot understand what anyone sees in this game. Everything you do feels incredibly slow and sluggish, and you're actively punished for trying to move a bit faster. Not at all the game I was expecting.

It's silly fun. Could use some tighter controls especially on grabbing/climbing mechanics but as long as you don't take it seriously it's a fun time.

Countless nights I have wandered the woods that reside outside the walls of the mansus. Each morning, I awake and transcribe my journey, as the details are as fleeting as they are numerous.

During the day, I work in an attorney's office doing menial clerical work. It's frustratingly boring but is an unfortunate necessity, for now. I have told a few of my friends about my journeys through the mansus, about the things we are not meant to know, and they are eager to learn more. They may prove useful in the coming days.

Before I rest, I have a few precious hours to give towards entertainment. I've been playing Cultist Simulator. A wonderful little distraction of a game. Finally I sleep, so as to make my return to the woods outside the walls of the mansus once more.
