Portal Stories: Mel is a game great for those who want more to the Aperture Science story. If you want story, soundtracks and visuals, you got it. If you want gameplay, well, I hope you frequented the Portal 2 Workshop beforehand or there is a good chance you'll be hitting the spanish-subtitled walkthrough.

Pros:
-An entertaining story that fits well within the Portal 2 universe.
-Fun references to other Portal games and even Half-Life
-Fully voiced.
-Amazing music which fits Portal 2 while still having a style of its own. (Not to mention it's availible for free download.)
-New assets fit Valve's art style like a glove.
-Great effects are used throughout the game.
-A great ending with a tragic twist. (Befitting of the story it expands upon.)
-The main antagonist sounds like the Axiom from Wall-E.

Cons:
-The aforementioned great story does have the occasional hiccup.
-The intro takes too long to do very little. (Not sure if meant to be foreshadowing the puzzles.)
-There is no learning curve or clues for the harder puzzles, which tend to call upon techniques from community chambers they didn't even create and even knowlege of the game engine itself. (You'll even be rummaging through the final boss chamber looking for where the story continues.)
-Some of the more complex chambers have holes in them, making it easy to BS your way through the level
-Level pacing ceases to exist after the second chapter.
-(Cue Buzz meme.) Invisible walls, invisible walls everywhere!
-The final chapter is a 'different enough' rehash of Portal 2's mid game.
-The game goes from a puzzle game to an unchallenging platform shooter for the climax. (Which Valve themselves said was a bad idea in their Portal commentary.)
-The ending sequence starts too early. (There were more opportunities for interaction/exploration before Bink Video plays the rest of the game for you.)

Final Verdict: Portal Stories: Mel is like Portal: Prelude but with a way better story, real voice acting, and is hard by choice rather than extreme error. Would I reccomend this game? Definitely.

Just used the map editor to make a small gauntlet of nebulae, pirates, and lag. 10/10.

I've been playing this game for over two weeks now, I finished the campaign, and I'm about halfway through a sandbox match. So far, this is the best space strategy game I've ever played. The ship designer is amazing, the adjacency system is easy to learn and extremely useful for specializing planets, and the ship combat is very well detailed. It was a little jarring to no longer see an invasion battle screen anymore, and the gameplay mechanics were a little hard to get the hang of at first, but in my experience the transition wasn't any harder than it was to transition from Dread Lords to Twilight of the Arnor and Dark Avatar. The only bug I've ever had with this game is the ship designer crashing occasionally, but it seems to have stopped with the recent patches. There's still plenty of features pending for this game in the future, but I'd rather play them as they're added than have to learn them all at once at the end of this game's support.

Technical gripes: I can't connect to the multiplayer at all, the game refuses to detect high-end hardware, and the game is riddled with animation glitches.

Singleplayer gripes: The only real innovation I saw was at the first two levels involving North Korea and Atlas. After that I saw a terrorist group with little writing behind it pulled straight from Activision's ass, a war with North Korea apparently being settled in one hour as it is never seen again after the first chapter, a stereotypical car chase dumbed down by smart grenades, your undeveloped african arch nemesis dying without any damn to give on the player's part, Kevin Spacey being an obvious villan, a stealth mission with great potential turned into 'kill these guys with your fancy grapple and pretend you're good at hiding,' and the bad helicopter vehicle level of previous COD titles being promoted to an even worse jet level.

I will, however, reccomend this game because I really loved the gameplay itself, especially the AST mech and the hovertank. (Plus, your melee is a satisfying exosuit punch that sends enemies flying.)

Aeria's been banning people (Myself included.) from their transaction site just for owning this game. 10/10 would reccomend so you get the free tf2 knife and never have to buy Aeria's trash.

As for the game itself? Yeah, had this for about a year, (Got this after Aeria took over so I never got to experience the proverbial wizard of oz known as Ijji.) got some decent perm weapons before the option was removed and got used to the ones I had, and I'd spend my days on annhialation and sniper maps dropping players like flies with my TPG-1. The game declined with every update, though, and the hackers only seemed to get better control over the game with each update. (Unfortunately they haven't gotten enough control to add perm weapons back yet, I bet they're working on it though.) I beat some greenhorn hackers, (Especially on sniper maps.) made friends with some, got free stuff from others. Even the hackers I knew have all left the game along with a large portion of its initial playerbase. Oh well, mabye one day when Aeria pretends they have to shut the game down so Ijji doesn't think they're attempting to run a monopoly, someone else might pick the game up and put it back in working order.

P.S. Aeria, I found your little keylogger. I'd send it back your way if everyone didn't already know how little you qualify as a videogame developer.

Edit: I at one point came back and permanant weapons were re-added with the addition of giving players free 'training weapons' to get their foot back in the door and make enough money to buy perms again. Nothing else had changed though, so I left agan after a short while.
Edit 2: Apparently the game has changed hands, but all my friends are telling me En Masse is even worse than Aeria and I've so far not heard any confirmation that the rootkit was removed from the game. Still won't be trying this again.

The game's short and crashes when the credits roll. Other than that, it's pretty fun. Albeit a full gigabyte download seems a little much to me for a Portal 2 SDK with a new toy, but I guess thats more for mappers to appreciate.

Singleplayer was OK, multiplayer sucks, performance is all around horrid. The $60 pricetag is a bigger kick in the balls than every EA and Crapcom game combined.
