Like another reviewer said, I spend the majority of my time living in the Golden Saucer and doing PVP while avoiding the main story. I just don't want to go any further. I want to progress, but even with the Japanese voice overs on the story and the characters of this new expansion are beyond uninteresting and boring. Everyone around the new Wuk Lamat character is competent, interesting, and has the potential for character development, but instead we see Wuk's face in every single story thread and dialogue, and she is flat, undeveloped, and unlikable. It feels unnatural. It's like if the Crystal Exarch was omnipresent and you were hanging off his coat tails instead of him needing YOU, except he was a well-written character with proper development and stoicism to hide his insecurities.

Wuk literally spends her time getting kidnapped and crying and spending way too long moping about how she gets seasick. Can we get on with it? Can we please?

They had a million story threads they could have picked up on including the Island Sanctuary you just built (which could have led to something interesting and poignant), but instead they have Wuk jump off a boat with no proper introduction to hijack your story. And you agree to go with her without even a shred of convincing... why? It all feels incredibly contrived and disappointing.

When Endwalker finished I honestly felt the game should spend an expansion throwing the WoL into a new situation with few (or none) of the familiar characters around. Similar to Heavensward and parts of Shadowbringers. Two expansions with high stakes that started with a gut punch each time.

What happened here? Beach episode excuses don't cut it, this is actually insufferable. And people complained about the new relics requiring completion of the Manderville quests to access (content people didn't like). This is way worse.

Square is going to have a problem on their hands if they don't get it together. I get the feeling this is what happens when Yoshi P and the A team is away working on FF16 and they leave complete incompetents in charge of the XIV ship.
