Pretty solid roguelike. The structure of procedurally generated levels kinda reminds me of GTA2, but without cars.

You spawn in one of the small districts of the city and your goal is to complete contracts in any way possible, so you can proceed to the next level. Lots of weapons, gadgets, consumables, unlockable characters (like Doctor, who can't use weapons, but has chloroform), character traits e.t.c.

There's also a co-op, but I haven't played it. All and all, a pretty solid game. If you're short on money - wait for a sale.

This is how you release old school games for modern systems. Really enjoy this bundle. Works perfectly.

While I like some of the gameplay ideas of this game (like collecting weapons and exosuit parts directly from enemies, piece by piece), the controls and the whole fighting system is not good at all. The enemies that I've encountered before 1st boss are generally easy (especially after souls), but the very first boss shows everything that is wrong with the combat system by multiplying it. The controls are not good, the leashing is a thing, unfairly looking hits (from the animation point of view) are a thing, there is no real evasion (just some sort of a dash move), e.t.c.

Plus, I really don't get the idea of "weapon proficiency" and timed scrap - local analogue of souls. If you die and lose scrap, you have only 2:30 to go and get it back. Of course, you get about 15-ish seconds with every killed mob, but it's bad mechanics anyway, imho.

I've heard that the second part of Surge is far better, in terms of gameplay, so if you really want to try this setting, it probably would be better to pick up the second part.

A good review can sell a game. I mean, after I saw Mandalore's video on Brigador, I immediately bought the game on Steam. I very rarely do such things, but I don't regret my decision.

As Mandalore said, this game resembles Red Alert 2 (in terms of graphics and SFX). I always liked the missions where you must control a small number of units, and Brigador kind of reminds me of those missions.

Main pros:

- Excellent sprites. A lot of variation and details on the maps.
- Everything is destructible.
- A lot of weird mechas, antigravs, tanks, you name it. A lot of stuff to drive and to destroy.
- In campaign you can choose between various types of vehicles. This can alter your playstyle. E.g. if you pick a sturdy tank, you can just go on a destruction derby without ever holding back. And if you pick a small mech with camouflage, but very little HP and shields, you can basically play a stealth mission, trying to avoid the spotters and baiting the enemies in small quantities.
- Pretty neat soundtrack.
- Replayability. You can complete campaign missions with every type of transport + there is a freelance mode with tons of maps and customisation. It's somewhat like skirmishes in RA2.

The only "con" for me is that it takes some time to get used to the controls (there are alternative modes for them in the options menu, so be sure to check them out).

Other than that, it's a pretty solid game. Mindless fun or somewhat tactical approach - you decide. Really nice piece of nostalgia, but at the same time it doesn't feel ancient.

P.S. Played with keyboard+mouse.

Disclaimer: played with an Xbox One gamepad.

This is the moment, when I'm sad that Steam still doesn't have Informational (not good, not bad) reviews. But since they still do not exist I have to use what I can. And I'd rather not recommend this game, than recommend it, to be honest. So, there's that.

I wishlisted and started to look after that game pretty long time ago. I really liked the visual style, so that was basically the main thing that peaked my interest in it. And now I finally bought it.

I've seen all of the negative reviews and yet still thought: "Come on, it can't be that bad. Just look at the art style. Surely it's just the matter of taste."

Guess I was wrong.

Weird collision boxes (yours and enemies as well). This brings confusion into encounters with enemies. Of course, there's a small reticle thingy that appears right before when you need to hit the enemy, but it doesn't really help. It's really hard to estimate the distance between your hitbox and the enemy's hitbox. Sometimes they hit you from a weird distance, sometimes you can't hit them from where you should be able to. That kind of stuff.

It also messes up with certain platforming elements. E.g. ice platforms that dive into the water or the ice "trampolines". You can't just jump on them from any side. You have to do that in a certain area, even if its geometry tells you otherwise. Missed the platform - too bad. Now you will die and start this stuff all over (from level 1 since it's roguelike). Died not because of the enemies, but because of the weird platform collision boxes. This is kinda frustrating.

The procedural generation works a bit strange too, to be honest. Either it's not really procedural, or the set of "the parts" is really small. I don't know.

Of course, there are things like "experience" after death that opens up some "shortcuts". Game over bonuses for the player to ease his burden, but when the main gameplay mechanics doesn't work properly, those things can't really help.

Overall, I really liked the concept of the game and its visuals. But it evokes more frustration than joy. And when a game does that, well...you know the answer.

Small amount of content is not a bad thing for me. But it feels like it was stretched out here, by using questionable design choices, either on purpose or not. I'm not sure.

Either way, if you're still up to trying it - it's your choice. Maybe you will like it after all. Sadly, I couldn't.

Haven't finished all of the levels yet, but I already can say that I like this game.

Started to play co-op through RemotePlayTogether, it lagged like s***, so I've continued
the game after that by myself (the online co-op works fine though).

Tried Zombie Mode and decided to go through all of the levels with it, since it's more fun than the Classic mode.
I can't say that the base game is hard (although there was "couple" of times, that required multiple restarts), especially with some of the characters, but it's still quite fun to play.

Really dig the possibility to open new gear and skills. Controls are pretty responsive too.

All and all, a good and fun 2D shooter. Don't expect some "serious tactics" or realism from it, and you'll be just fine.

I hope the devs will expand upon the core idea and make a similar game one day. Would gladly play it.

Great sci-fi thriller. If you enjoy space theme and like some spooky stuff now and then, I totally recommend this game.

A few things to note though.

1 - This is a relatively slow paced game.
2 - There's a lot of small mini-games and puzzles (not hard).
3 - If you have issues with navigating in spaces without actual floor and ceiling (this is a space station, after all), the game might appear slightly difficult to you. ( Or maybe I'm just saying it, cuz I found out that you can rotate yourself in space only in the late part of the game :D )

And that's it. There was a couple of moments where it was really hard to understand what to do next (or rather where), but other than that - no problems.

I especially want to note the voice actors, the actual representation of the space station interiors and the sound of this game. All of the mentioned really work for the atmosphere of the game.

TL;DR If you like space, spooks and not afraid of some puzzles - I totally recommend it.

Out of three Sokpop games that I've got on recent sale, this is the best one. A nice short game with pretty cool aesthetics and atmosphere. Totally recommend to try it, if you're into some weird-ish cool stuff.

Pros:

+Probably the best Star Wars game available
+Solid RPG
+Absolutely brilliant characters writing and voice acting
+Still fun to play in 2020
+Has controller support

Cons:

- Outdated graphics
- Small text
- Fights can be kinda boring at times
- There's a premise of a possibility of being a Gray Jedi (you even can find a Gray Jedi robe at one moment), but in reality you can only be Light or Dark. Nothing in between, which kinda ruined for me some key moments in the story.

Summary: Still, a very good game. If you like games like DA:O, Mass Effect - totally recommend to play this one. If you're a fan of Star Wars and interested in the lore (although the Old Republic is non-canon now, but who cares really :D) then you should totally try this game.

It was nice to finally replay this game after so many years.

Don't get me wrong, the game is fun. But it's fun only until you meet a squad of teleporting people who kill you in melee. This is basically pay to win situation, so I would not advice to waste your time on this product. (P.S. Teleportation and other "balanced" skills are only available for paid characters.)
