A good story to read... but it's pretty linear, and the main challenge comes from remembering how to get particular boost items. When I started the game I had visions of how the system as it stood could ramp up to being proper challenge, but it never did; if Cultist Simulator is a full on game, this is a walking simulator.
Still a good read, though.

Can't recommend this game enough if you're tired of the cookie-cutter style of MMO popularised by WoW. Project Gorgon is very inspired by earlier MMOs and MUDs, and mostly does its own thing with a touch of modern QoL.

It's a competent puzzle game, and I enjoy it if you like low-pressure puzzles of this type, but suffers from most regions and their puzzles having no connection to the finished artwork. Which always felt a little disappointing to me.
Overall it's cheap, though.

I had high hopes for Brighter Shores; that it would take the best of Old School Runescape, give it the looks of Runescape 3, and produce something new and fun to play.

It... well, it looks pretty, I guess. Mechanically it feels like those endless-treadmill idle phone games, only supported by a subscription rather than a gacha. I've made it to the second area of the game and so far it's taught me that the dev couldn't bother balancing the gathering skill for player progress, so he just gave you a different skill for Hopeforest that's exactly the same as the gathering skill in Hopeport, except you use it in the forest and on the forest's nodes.
And you have to level it from scratch.
Fun.

I have low hopes that the game will become fun if this kind of self-contained episodic design is maintained, and so far nothing in episodes 1 and 2 suggests that episodes 3 and 4 will be worth the subscription to access, or that it'll be worth an ongoing subscription beyond the month.

All that said, the dev has been responsive to quality of life requests that probably should have been in from the start. For example, thanks to patches, you can now rebind certain controls and there's an exit button, so you can now close the game if you happen to be playing full screen. So maybe there is hope. I'll be checking back in a year if the game's still alive at that point.

Worth successor to Dragon's Dogma 1. World is larger, and it has more content. If you liked the first, or you like a well-crafted adventure, play the game.

Really fun early game, when you're exploring and it doesn't take hours of work to make boss-locators. After you beat the first trio of bosses you're suddenly faced with needing to collect 20 to 90 items just to find bosses, and need to do more work to get them spawned. Rapidly runs into a quagmire.

Honestly just not very interestingly designed. It could be good, but progression feels like pulling teeth.

It's an exploration-focused game where the exploration is deeply unsatisfying for some reason.

A good open-world roguelike.

Ironically, feels pretty soulless.

The game feels like a cross between Vampire Survivors and Diablo, with more taken from Diablo than Vampire Survivors. You'll be seeing and fighting five random bosses from the same small set regardless of what map you're on; minor enemies will vary by map but who cares about those? They're not interesting. Big bosses are interesting, until you've seen the same set so many times that there's nothing more to learn about them.
