Sadly, PvZ Shooters are currently dying and there is little hope for a revival. So I'll write my review as a look back at this game.
Just so everyone knows, I originally played this game since 2016 on Origin, but only just now bought the game on Steam. Now let's get straight into my points:

Graphics:
The Graphics aren't outstandingly good, but neither bad. There are no low detailed textures and the art style is clean. Although the franchise might suggest a more cartoony look, it's more a mix between realism and cartoon.

Gameplay:
The gameplay is straight forward. It's a shooter. Plants versus Zombies. I honestly hope you figured that yourself.
Firstly, there are different gamemodes like Garden Ops, Team Vanquish, Gnome Bomb and more. This review would take hours to write if I explained all of them. For GW1 players, Taco Bandits sadly didn't make it back.
Furthermore, there are many different classes and variations of characters to choose from, and every single one does something unique no other character from that class or even game does. Getting new characters is accomplished by buying sticker packs with ingame currency. This is sadly one of the points where typical EA shines the best. I can assure you though, that getting the most characters is straight forward and doesn't involve any luck. Well at least getting a random one.

Story:
If you're looking for a game with good story, this ain't the game for you. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, but very short and lacking otherwhise. The game focuses on online PvP, so this shouldn't be a big point anyway.

Balancing:
Most of the characters are well balanced, with a few exceptions.
- Toxic Pea
- The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tree
- Z11 Imp that comes with the deluxe bundle
- Arctic Trooper
It's still possible to play against opponents playing those characters, but you might need to develop multiple strategies for killing those enemies. Well besides the tree, you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥ against him either way. You wan't to know why? Because you either play 4 months straight to get him or pay like 10 bucks. ♥♥♥♥ the tree.

Performance:
On higher setting, the game can still be demanding if you're playing on for example a GTX 1060 (like I am), so I'll only recommend playing on medium. (i usually play all my games in 4k or UHD, so if your monitor only outputs 1080p, those setting can be adjusted to high or higher)
No rating bc just have some decent hardware.

The new Game:
Yes, Battle vor Neigborville is a newer PvZ Shooter, but seriously, buy this game instead. You've probably read other reviews just telling you that. The newer game is way more lacking in balancing and lost official support by EA after only a year. There where no character variations, only their classes. It's chonky to play and there's no fun in it after playing GW2.
There's a reason they re-released this game afterwards on Steam after all.
Again no rating bc other game, donkey

Conclusion:
1. Multiplayer-Based shooter, lots of variation in characters / gamemodes
2. Don't play Battle for Neighborville
3. If you're looking for story, wrong game
4. Not very performance heavy, 10 year old pc can handle this decently
5. Microtransactions. It's EA
