This game's got it all. If you're looking for what it delivers then you will love it. So what does it deliver? A really good, mostly linear, story with amazing characters. A good but not amazing combat system that really emphasizes teamwork. and spectacular visuals (cannot emphasize this enough).

The plot itself isn't breathtaking or anything but it is good. But all the characters (mainly talking about the guardians themselves, but there are some other standouts as well) are incredibly well-written and well-acted. They each have a fulfilling arc that also interweaves with the arc of the team as a whole. Aside from that, the team members feel very true to their source material. if you know the guardians from the films, you will feel very familiar with their characterization. But their stories differ from the movies. So it doesn't feel like a rehash.

The world is also very realized, and a lot more comic-book whacky than what you might be familiar with. The game does not apologize at all for its comic book roots. There's a lot of world-building. But its often in the background so it doesn't get in the way.

Aside from the story, it is a visually stunning game. The environments in particular are truly some of the best ♥♥♥♥ in any game ever. I struggle to come up with examples on the same levels. Maybe you could say it's on par with Elden Ring, but honestly I think this is better.

As for the general gameplay. It's probably the weakest part of the package. Not to say it's bad, it's actually really enjoyable. The gameplay comprises two main modes. One where you explore, find upgrade materials, talk with your teammates, and solve puzzles using your team's various abilities. There are also unlockable costumes that you can find. These sections are fairly linear, with some secrets here and there. The second mode is combat. The combat is very team-oriented. The player (star-lord) really isn't very formidable by himself. Your main source of power are the other guardians. You will spend most of combat ordering them to activate abilities that combo in different ways. That's not to say that you can't do anything. You can do a lot of crowd-control and can deal with grunts fairly effectively.

In conclusion. I believe that you should play this game if you enjoy kinda whacky sci fi storytelling with really good characterization and truly best-in-class presentation, and good combat that really emphasizes teamwork.

Ok, so first off, just look at it. If you aren't impressed by looks alone here then I don't know what happened to your eyes.

Beyond the looks, this is also a phenomenal metroidvania. The platforming is fast-paced, well animated, and precise. There's also a really fun combat system that actually takes some skill to master. These two systems also have really fun progression curves. That doesn't leave you too under-or-overpowered at any point. Of course the platforming and combat systems are heavily intertwined and synergistic, and so are their upgrades.

The music is also very beautiful and compliments the story and visuals very well. Oh also, the story is great. Without barely any spoken words. The story manages to convey feeling that many stories can only dream of (just like the first one).

In short, strong recommendation on this gem.

A real mixed bag this one. On one hand its the most fun i've had with a sonic game in (probably) a decade. On the other, almost everything in this game is either janky, repetetive, uninspired, unfinished, or all of the above. Despite this, my first statement remains true. I think this is down to how good it feels to control sonic in this game.

In the end, this game ultimately entails running around with sonic doing different very simple activities or "challenges" with sonic. Which makes it incredibly important how he feels to control. Besides nailing the controls, this game also nails many set pieces. An important part of that is the music, which slaps. This is most prominent in some of the boss fights. No spoilers, but suffice it to say: super sonic has never been better.

In conclusion, I almost think you have to play this game to determine whether you like it. Because the feel is so important and doesn't come through in watching gameplay. So my recommendation is to get it and refund it if you don't like it.

The way this game weaves narrative into its rogue-like mechanics is like nothing i've ever seen, in a very good way. That, along with the amazing depth and variety in builds make this game an absolute gem.

This game is a really solid resource management/city builder game. With that being said, i do not believe that this game has some mechanical ace in the hole over other games of its ilk. Instead, i believe that what elevates this game is its characters, mechanically, sure, but mainly narratively. Each character has an undeniable charm and they are all very memorable and unique. The way the personalities of these characters make themselves evident through their dynamic actions in gameplay strengthens their memorability even further, as a plus it adds a dimension to gameplay where you can consider the personalities of the characters when making diplomatic actions.

Don't get me wrong, the other aspects of the game are very solid as well. I just wanted to highlight the thing that I think truly makes this game (and most of the ANNO games) special.

The main strength of this game is its incredible, unrelenting pace. There are almost no instances in which action is not taking place and the intensity and absurdity of said action only increases as time progresses.

On a more mechanical note, ROR 2 is a largely traditional rogue-like, the meta-progression is very limited. Save for the items you unlock you do not really grow in power. Most of the progression is instead based on player skill. This is neither good nor bad, it depends on your taste.

My favourite mechanic is also one of the more controversial; the time scaling difficulty. To me, it adds a really enjoyable dimension of decision making to the game, where you have to balance the potential for acquiring new items, and consequently, more power with the increase in difficulty acquiring it will require.

In summary, the game is very enjoyable, in my opinion, due to the unrelenting and ever-escalating action as well as the time-management aspects introduced by the scaling difficulty. Would recommend to mostly anyone.

Heroes of hammerwatch maintains a very good balance between rougue-like, ephemeral design and permanent progression. The amount of different ways you can progress in this game is great and very layered. For one there's the temporary progression that are items. Items are very fun and varied and come with various effects, ranging from simple stat improvements to a host of interesting effects. Then there's a lot of different ways to permanently improve your characters and town. These systems really make for a very fun and varied short term progression, and a rewarding and statisfying meta-progression

I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys rogue-like games in general. The game also features fun coop. It also has two good dlcs.

I can't gush about this game enough. The fact that they put this together in 18 months is some kind of miracle. The attention to detail displayed in this work of art is simply astounding considering the development time. If you've played fallout 3 then the overall gameplay will be pretty familiar to you. Aside from the addition of ADS (aim-down-sights) and weapon mods, which isn't insignificant, the gameplay is pretty much exactly the same to Fallout 3. Where this game really shines is in it's writing and storytelling as well as the amazing interactivity thereof. Most quests have multiple different solutions and which of those that are available to you depends on your character and past desicions. This makes for amazing replayablity as well as huge role-playing potential. I wholeheartedly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys rpgs.

This game gets a lot of criticism, much of it deserved. Whether you want to play this game or not depends on whether or not you want a "true" fallout game. A "true" fallout game is a deep, complex role-playing experience that responds to your choices. It is a game where you actually have the oppurtunity to ROLE-play both through actions in the world and the way you build your character. Fallout 4 is not a "true" fallout game. The role-playing aspect is absolutely gutted, there are very few impactful decisions you can make. There are even less decisions that actually acknowledge your character build (speech checks or the like).

If, on the other hand you want a game based on exploration, combat, crafting and character building with good stories and world design. Then i would recommend it
