Early Access Review
If Risk of Rain 2 seems too hardcore for you, this game is the better option. The runs last shorter, there's less stuff to unlock and the game is somewhat easier. Until the developers add more content and make it as hardcore :) Lacks some more difficult enemies and in variety of biomes.

For EA game i found it pretty much polished, well optimized and more or less glitchless.

What the other guy said, if a girl gifted this to me i'd marry the ♥♥♥♥ out of her.

10/10 citybuilder with a decent challenge and the devs keep actively working on it, worth every coin

A very decent spiritual descendant of the old specific genre of Sierra/Tilted Mill city-builder games like Caesar, Pharaoh, Zeus, Emperor...

More focused on the hands- on economy managament than all of the aforementioned games, you have to manually set up almost everything and the most of the negative comments seem to spur from that experience. I can't see it as a negative thing, i don't want my management games overly automated.

In my opinion, it's worth the money and time for the die-hard fans of the genre.

Even in the Early Access Game it's easily one of the best "voxel" based citybuilders i've ever played. Mechanics are excellent, the graphics are just enough. The artwork style is really appealing to me. Lacks in content in the means of a story/campaign, or more diverse disaster events (only solving droughts gets boring and sandboxy after some time, even on the hardest difficulties).

The only drawback is the really dreadful optimization when one gets to high pop cities with a lot of storage units and workers, the FPS drops are dramatic to the point of the PC almost stopping. It's a widespread occurence, even with the top tier gaming rigs, and people assume it has something to do with the absurd amount of calculations the computer has to handle for all the beavers workers who are trying to optimize the balanced storage levels across the city.

10/10, devs please address the FPS drops

I would say that the current EA version level of UI and game bugs are really putting a dark shadow on this otherwise fantastically well done citybuilder. It shares the most of the mechanics with Dawn of Man and Banished, further improving them. Suffers from some really annoying game mechanics that aren't as apparent until they start working correctly and you realize what exactly was it that prevented them from working before (cows not passing the gates, gates not closing in front of invading army, farming soil not getting filled with clay or sand, hunters idly standing next to a boar...). Graphics wise, it's beautiful in every aspect.

Overall I'm not gonna recommend it for the average gamer because I feel the price of ~30 eur is too steep. This early access game currently has a lot of drawbacks both content wise and gameplay wise, but the true citybuilder fans shouldn't skip this one. I'm actually a bit surprised by the amount of positive recommendations that this game has got despite, in my opinion, being far too underdeveloped for the price asked.

But It has all the means to become truly great in the future when issues are solved, content expanded and bugs addressed.
