an amazingly in-depth game despite its age. Tons of replayability and fun to be had for those who are fans of other medieval-themed strategy games and also to those who are just fans of other Total War titles.

Early Access Review
While I have only played it for a day, I found the game to be boundless in being entertaining. With the ability to both create and destroy in equal measures, this game gives you the feeling of being a god. And, with some talk of future implementations of life I am even more glad I bought this great game.

Civ was really my first strategy game back with CivII, and ever since Sid Meier and Firaxis continue to find ways to revolutionise the game from its previous editions.

I must say, I was kind of excited when this DLC got announced. What I expected was a game that would perhaps mirror Medieval in style, and with actually uniquely designed units, settlements, etc.

But what I got was simply a rehashed, reskinned version of the original game, just with the factions given different names and some mixing of the voice actors. (Ex. Lombard generals having Roman voice actors whilst soldiers yelling 'Men of Germania!' And whatnot. I know the Lombards were Germanic and all, but this urks me.)

My advice? Wait for a sale. The DLC has some redeeming features, the cool events with decisions and the pretty looks of the unit and building cards makes this look like a quality DLC, but not for 15 USD.

To be honest, I am seeing a bit of a sad trend. Rome in Rome II had around 40 or so different unit types, Rome in this game had 30 "unique" units (I quote as most are just simple reskins which is sadly something that is erupting throughout this entire game.) I just wish they spent more time on it, and not bowing to SEGA's yearly release ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
