This game is not worth the price tag.

The game takes ideas from previous Bethesda titles but implements them in a half-assed fashion. The pillars of the game (exploration/combat/ship combat/building) are all very shallow and do not interact with one another in a meaningful way.

One thing I will praise the game for in a cruel, round-about way is its handling of the story. Bethesda games generally have atrocious writing, with endings that'll leave you sat in your chair in disbelief (and not in a good way).
Starfield handles this by
simply not providing you with any answers and plopping you right back to square 1 as if that had been the plan all along. On a meta level, this is supremely funny. When actually playing through it, however, it's just dumb.

Just skip the game.
Bethesda has been getting away with phoning it in for years.
