This is a very slow paced relaxing game with minimal user interaction. Simple controls and options. I like to leave this running while I am working and check on my tree while taking a break, modifying when needed then letting it continue to grow. This is not for people with short attention spans.

I enjoy and appreciate this for what it is.

I just completed my first play through and things got ugly. Like nuke the world ugly. Enjoyed every second of this!

I've always wanted to find something similar to old games like Balance of Power / Shadow President, and while this isn't going to replace that game for me, it certainly has elements of that game that are presented well.

It can be difficult at times to see how your choices will impact the short/long term issues.

An example: Nordland appeared to be just into the red, but things kept getting to Defcon 1. I couldn't figure out why this was happening and this is what eventually triggered a Nuclear war. They nuked us all.

I may have missed something, or don't fully understand all of the game mechanics my first time through, but either way it was still an enjoyable experience.

If you are a fan of Shadow President, Balance of Power or political sims this is a solid entry.

I'm not sure how I feel about that.

A comlete disaster at launch, redeemed through dedicated patching and new features. The game is now where it should have been at launch and deserves a look.

A lot of build-up and potential ... only to have it all come crashing down.

Abandoned by the dev when they realized it was a mess and they decided to work on a new game, Reign of Kings. Where they did the exact same thing. Go look at the mixed reviews on that one. They did not learn from this mistake at all.

Do not reward this developer at all by purchasing.

You won't spend a lot of time in Firewatch watching fires. You will spend time in a well-crafted narrative story with top voice talent and fantastic art style. This is a short game! Take your time and don't rush through it for best experience.

I tend to check out of games like this after the first hour or two but Firewatch pulled me in quickly and exploring the environment was interesting.

The story started strong but begins to falter 2/3 of the way through and frankly, the ending was somewhat of a letdown. I feel like there was a wasted opportunity with the end but still recommend this with hopes that Campo Santo take the feedback well and grow with their next title.

Many reviews are not mentioning the camera feature. Minor spoiler here, but you get a camera and have the ability to take photos throughout the experience. When the game ends you are able to retrieve your photos from a Firewatch linked site that enables you to share on Facebook or Twitter, download or even order real prints. A neat feature that I wish I’d known about early in the game.

A thumbs up, even with the disappointing ending.

Side note: This played extremely well via Steam link on my 60 in TV and looked great!

Just don't.

Second time this dev made claims during early acces, and second time they dumped and pushed a game out as 'finsished' that is just not ready for prime time.

A fun concept and there was potential here for something good but this is a great example of why early access can be terrible. I will never buy another game from this developer.

Difficult, brutal side scrolling dungeon crawler.

Your characters will die.

Random rolls will make you furious.

You will rage quit.

You'll love every minute... Dark Souls was tough but fun and I am having the same type of fun with this. the soundtrack by Stuart Chatwood (of Canadian band the tea Party) is moody and perfect.
