i have 2400 hours in VT2, Love basically everything about it.
at time of review i have 350 hours in Darktide all classes at 30, with heresy or damnation clears on all of them and most penances completed.

Darktide could be an actual successor to it if it tried.
The melee feels 'punchier' and as satisfying as ever(there are some questionable changes here too but...), but nearly every system surrounding combat is not complete. Almost no agency in your weapon drops therefore no real way to target cheeky fun builds beyond luck. The servers on heresy+ have tendencies to lag massively during hordes/events. Tons of broken promises, redacted statements or just flatout lies from the devs or community teams. Class balance is basically non existent, vets are way over tuned .

This game isnt finished, the devs do not seem concerned with the state that its in and seem hellbent on alienating their community. I really like the game, you can really feel that the devs dont like you back though.

and i didnt even start on the cosmetic shop.

there are genuine moments of bliss while playing... but it all just feels wasted.


The only people i would recommend the game to are 40k Stans that just want to kill heretics in a decent(from what ive read) representation of the world.
or
Tide addicts who that what that sweet hit of dopamine you get during melee combat, and can deal with being at the whims of an absentee dev team.

For everyone else check back in 6 months to a year if you want a more complete game.
