Early Access Review
I've been following this game since it's very first announcement. But for obvious reasons i haven't bought the game, but decided to try it now while it's free. I'm not going to talk about how Maxx ruined the entire game and it's future by selling an already decent looking game just before it‘s early access release to TBS while going radio silent (again) for a long period of time and delaying it‘s release even further. Somehow TBS managed to release a worse game than what we saw in the early pre-release gameplay videos. That's a long story that you can look into if you want to know more. But now i'm just going to share my impressions below.

The game itself shows a lot of potential. I guess the new update greatly helped with that, but it's still very clunky, broken and has questionable design choices.

Let's start with the fact that most players are too incompetent to survive more than 5-10 minutes, leaving you fighting on your own while trying to finish an impossible task, which only leaves you with [K] and no reward at all.
Yes, NMRiH 1 was exactly the same, BUT it had a key difference, which brings me to my next point: The Zombie spawns used to make sense.

Here the Zombies just spawn around you All. The. Time.
You just cleared the same 2 rooms 4 times in a row SILENTLY so that you can try to finish your objective?
Well, too bad, here are 3 more zombies coming from those same rooms every 10 seconds, like there's a zombie spawner inside. And this is basically the entire game. Zombies just spawning around you instead of outside your LoS like it should be. Because of this issue it's impossible to clear a building like in the first game.
They should swarm the entrances to the building, but should never just spawn inside of them. I mean the first game nailed that perfectly.

Furthermore Stealth seems utterly useless. Zombies notice me when i crouch walk just as much as when i run past them. It makes no difference. Combat is bugged too, sometimes shoves or attacks don't make the zombie stagger, but instead they just ignore it and attack you while you attack them.

Speaking of Zombies, their Design is kind of questionable. They look way too human and not scary, and the blood drenched red eyed zombies are just goofy. Give us some scary but still "realistic" looking ones. I'm talking about giving them more body wounds, removing the red eyed blood drenched zombie and replacing them with something more authentic. Oh, and generally just rework their faces. I mean look at the game sreenshot above, specifically the one at the gas station. They literally look like a bunch of homeless drug addicts instead of actual Zombies. I mean the first game did it much much better.

Regarding the Sound i'd say it's decent but with serious issues. One of them being the quiet Ninja-Zombies who sometimes make no sound at all, and the too quiet Shamblers/Screamers. Make them more louder, because you can't even hear when they "signal" the other zombies because they're just too quiet.
But the Zombie Sound-design itself is really good when it works. And the sound in general regarding ambience, voice acting and other aspects is really good too.

I would like to have some daylight maps aswell. I don't like that all maps have to be pitch-black. The first game had many daylight maps too and it still stayed tense.

I really hope that TBS won't just rush this game to release and drop it afterwards, but i lost my hype for this game many years ago, and after the release it completely died. Well, i'm still gonna keep a close eye on this one because they seem to be cooking? Idk, we'll see. Like i said, the game itself has some fun moments and big potential.

Oh, and please make a better matchmaking system, if i play on EU servers i want people from the EU who at least speak english, but now only 4 people spoke english and the rest didn't, and that's from 4 different games with a full lobby.

EDIT:

Just played another round and wow, it's even worse than before. All of my teammates which consisted of one english speaking guy and the rest all being russians (again) all died leaving me fighting alone.

I actually managed to survive to the very end all alone and even got to the train station. It wasn't fun, but rather the most tedious thing i've ever done in gaming. The whole time i was jumping on a car roof to kill the endless spawning waves of zombies, and i even found easy to reach spots - like tables - where the Zombies couldn't reach me for some reason. It was stupidly easy to exploit and at the same time extremely tedious. This game lost even more of it's intensity after realizing that you can easily win the game by jumping on the smallest obstacles which makes you nearly invincible.

Anyway, i had only one more rail part missing, and i tried my best but for some reason it was nowhere to be found. This entire time i only had around 20 seconds time to look for it before having to take another 5 minute break killing the next wave of zombies - which randomly appeared - from a high ground. In the end i got bored of having to kill 10 zombies every 20 seconds while standing on a crate and abusing the stupid AI, so i just pressed "K". I really wanted to extract, but having to search for one rail part for 15 minutes while zombies are constantly respawning? No thanks. The worst part is that i wasn't even rewarded properly for coming so far all on my own.

Great and badass game with really fluid and satisfying combat which requires skill to master.
Great Art direction and Soundtrack too.

10/10

A fundamentally broken and barebones game where the devs obviously tried to cash in during the Escape from Tarkov Unheard Edition Drama.
The devs knowed fully well that the game was not ready even for an Early Access release but still decided to release this broken game with it's very expensive Editions.

PVP sucks. (Clunky Movement makes it a chore to play. Questionable hit detection and bad performance makes it even worse.)
PVE / AI sucks. (AI will just one tap you behind multiple bushes immediately after spotting you while you're running far away, even at night.)
Movement sucks. (Clunky and really heavy.)
Helicopter System sounds nice on paper but was implemented in a annoying way. You often have to wait for an avaible chopper because there are only 4 there, and the waiting time can take around 3 minutes if all are busy. You can get camped at the landing zones and the helicopters themselves are way too loud. It's like the devs wanted us to have a miserable time.
Performance and graphical bugs are the worst i've ever seen in my entire life of playing video games. You have burned in pictures of the main menu screens while playing the game. Even if you play on the lowest graphic settings possible the performance is just awful and the graphical errors will stay.
The overall gameplay-loop is just lacking. There isn't much to do and the bad AI and performance makes it a chore to play.

I've never seen something that bad and i've played Tarkov, so that means something.

I expect at least something halfway playable when buying an Early Access game, but this game was obviously just rushed out in this completely halfbaked state because they wanted to catch all the Tarkov Players who just left the game after the Unheard Edition happened. Calling it an "Early Access" is not an excuse. It's obvious that this game was not in a release worthy state, and the player count which you can see on Steam Charts is proof for that.

I'll still follow the game and i hope that it'll receive REGULAR and MEANINGFUL updates, because the concept is great. I'll revisit this game after every update and if it's in a decent enough state i will change my review, but for now me and my buddy are done with this game.

I never played the original game, but i really love this one. The aesthetic style of this game is really great and i really liked the interactivity with the enviroment.

I like the fact that it's difficult, without handholding and that it has actual Puzzles where you have to actually think.

While i like the no handholding approach, i'd still loved if there was some kind of log or at least a marker for each terminal or button on the map, just like it's the case for the elevators and codepads. Or at the very least a checklist on my current objective. I lost a lot of time just running around aimless because in one sequence i had no clue to where i was supposed to go, because that one thing i was looking for wasn't marked on the map at all. This is the only game since a very long time where i actually had to look up online on what to do next.

Other than that it would've been nice if the storage lift had much more space than it did.

All in all it's a solid 8/10. I hope we'll get a System Shock 2 Remake too.

This game is not my cup of tea, but it's still one of the best games out there, and it deservers the labor of love award.

It's quite repetitive but fun enough gameplay wise, but man oh man, this whole political correctness and Igbt stuff that get's shoved down your throat throughout the game is just insane.

Look, i don't care if games feature gay characters or stuff like that, i really don't. But if developers try to push this LGBT agenda down my throat throughout the ENTIRE game at every possible chance then we have a problem. If you want to include this stuff into your game so badly, then let it be known for buyers before they buy your game, instead of carefully sprinkling this message throughout the game.

Every second couple in this game has to be homosexual. A bossfight against a zombie "bride" who's actually a buff man in a wedding dress. One of the playable characters is literally a male Stripper. Oh, and the fact that your pronoun in this game is "THEY" instead of "him" or "her" is just the cherry on top. And don't tell me that the devs didn't do this on purpose, but because it's a coop game. Literally every other game until this point managed to do it properly depending on if you played solo or not.

All of this is way too forced in this game, and it speaks for itself when even the group of people the devs tried to appeal to think that it’s over the top. It really shows how the devs are following this modern trend in gaming to a extreme degree.

Keep in mind that i'm just halfway through the game, so i guess there's much more to come.

Sorry, but i'm trying to play a game here, and not get a lection in LGBT.

Update:

After finally taking the time to finish the game i can confidently say that the game isn't even worth buying purely for the gameplay itself sadly.

It's painfuly repetitive and the gameplay gets dull faster than your weapons. Furthermore it's actually really short, even for me who likes to take his sweet time with games. (I did most of the side content and wandered around for fun a lot too) I was surprised when it ended, both negatively and positively, because on one end the story was really short and just stupid overall, but on the other end i was relieved because now i could finally be done with this game even faster than i expected.

In the end i can only say that they should've never released this game, it would've been better than getting this boring game which is filled with this whole LGBT propaganda.
